I can't understand why they rejected because you want to go on holiday! When did Australians have to beg the government to go on holiday? WTF happened to the Aussie larrikin spirit? We should be telling ScoMo and his commie friends to go F themselves. We want to go to Bali. Come on people! !!! Fight back against this socialist tyranny.
Very funny. "ScoMo and his commie friends...." The fellow is leader of the Liberal Party... a long tradition of conservative ideology and policies.in 1951 a predecessor Liberal Prime Minister, Sir Robert Menzies introduced an Act that enabled the government to declare any person a communist, deny them employment in the public service and a range of industries. The Communist Party of Australia was declared an unlawful organisation and was dissolved, its property forfeited to the Commonwealth without compensation. A challenge was made in the High Court that ruled the act was invalid. Menzies then tried to introduce the measures by referendum which was defeated.
As for the "larrikan spirit" one of those mythologies which we cherish along with being generous, adventurous and having the best and bravest soldiers in the world. Australians have a reputation in much of South East Asia as being the most tight fisted tourists and of late some very embarrassing focus on war crimes in Afghanistan with the murder of innocent civilians. And as for the adventurous outback kind of character, represented by Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee, 89% of Australians live in cities and urban areas.
But otherwise I agree with your point about having to beg our government if we want to go overseas.
