Travel to Bali

Just thought I'd let people know about my trying to get back to Bali. I have tried to get a travel exemption and been unsuccessful so far. I've included a detailed statutory declaration in which I made it very clear that I would not be returning to Perth for at least 5 years, my lease agreement for the place I have rented in Bali, a copy of my KITAS, copies of the receipts for the rental costs. I also made it very clear that I have sold my house in Perth and so have no home here. The powers that be still haven't approved the exemption. I'm posting this as a heads up for anyone looking to travel back home to Bali.

So my chances of ducking over to Bali for a quick game of pool in Candidasa and a few beers is looking pretty slim then?? :) :) Cheers Ken

Thanks for posting. I know where I am NOT going at least. If there comes a time I have to leave Bali USA/Europe looks a lot more appealing than Australia right now, which quite frankly sucks but it is what it is.

Western Australia aka WA aka Wait a While Covid19 ? Whats that? No mask required, virtually no social distancing, pubs and clubs at full capacity and life is basically normal. One bonus of living in the worlds most isolated capital... Cheers Ken

I can assure you that America would be the very last place I’d go right now, with or without COVID-19. Australia does have a VERY strict Covid-19 policy and for better or worse it has managed the pandemic with very little loss of life. Bitch all you like about not being able to fly in and out when you like but what they/we have done to fight this pandemic ranks as one of the success stories of the world.

Each to their own I guess but there are certain freedoms I am not willing to give up. I have been here in a so called "COVID HOT" country since Novemeber and no problem, every time I visited the United States I loved it there. Now don't get me wrong, I much prefer Bali, but it certainly takes Australia well and truly off my radar if they may not let me out again.

If you have no home here then setup camp outside the immigration department at the airport :) Cheers Ken

Dam Australia sure sounds like a fine country..........meanwhile every 20-30 year old from Russia, Eastern Europe is flying into Bali on the daily with Visas from god knows where.

Well guys, at the second attempt I got my travel exemption. Damned if I know what went wrong the first time but at least they approved my second attempt. Hoping to fly on the 17th June after I've had my second Covid shot. Cannot wait to get back to my adopted home and my lady.

Just an aside.. Spoke too soon about masks etc. Perth has just gone into a 3 day lockdown. Dammit !

But....but wasn't the point of shutting down the borders and trapping everyone inside the country supposed to prevent any lockdown, mask-wearing, social distancing?

I don't think there's any doubt that wearing a mask and maybe some form of eye protection reduces the chance of infection. Frankly I would rather suffer the discomfort of both than risk catching the damn virus.

And the infected person who caused all this is in Melbourne. That is a bit of an overreaction IMO. But I never did like the politics of Perth hence why I moved to Bali.

This outbreak was not from community contact which shows the mask and social distancing is/has worked. This outbreak was from an incoming person who was infected overseas and passed it on in quarantine.

Ok thank you for clarifying. How do you explain Japan then? They have a 98% mask obedience rating yet they haven't been able to flatten the curve over there.

I not an expert in pandemic control so I am unable to answer your question. However you must be pleased with the results you and your like minded experts are achieving in India.
