I think now you will find the "blue" books are actually brown and silver. also if you plan to use a local to buy it,try to get one that hasnt already one in their name. this will make the rego cheaper for you, i think its not that much more but the progressivepayment is still dearer. you could always by a second hand scooter with 3-4 years rego and not change it over.

Not quite true. I bought a 2nd hand car and changed the ownership to my name with my Kitas and bought a new motorbike in my name. Nobody asked me for a ktp. Motorbike doesn't have a BPKB as far as I know, only car.

Haha, I assume you are being humorous/sarcastic. If you actually mean that then me thinks you won't like most of the comments on here, especially from that god guy in Candidasa :) The forums can be a cruel place.. BTW Matselah ( as usual) has the correct answer. Buy the bike in a locals name and keep the bluebook. Nothing gets sold without that. It is a form of currency in tight times. The local needs money goes to the bank with the bluebook and uses as collateral to get money. Local gets money back goes back to the bank and gets bluebook back in exchange for said money. I hope to God that was a sarcastic comment but me thinks not (sadly). These kids today short circuit when any sort of negative energy comes their way. They want to live in some utopia where everyone gets a trophy and everyone holds hands, skipping through daisy fields singing happy songs day in and day out.

So how do I get mine? I bought two new bikes from a Honda dealer, one in my wife's name on her Ktp and one in my name on my kitas. The dealer organised the STNK but I never got a BPKB book.

yes happened to me too once. you can call & ask and they will give it to you. I got mine after years :) was also a Honda motorbike dealer

I don't disagree with you but have become used to WNI family using the term without it being loaded as some kind of put down. Most entomological online sources describe the term as an Indonesian word used for foreigners although it seems there have been numerous discussions about the term being felt by non Indonesians as unacceptable. I will hereafter avoid using the term.

Thanks. I'll ask next time I take the bike for service. Don't know where I got the idea BPKB was for cars only.

Motorbike has also a BPKB. Just another idea: if a foreigner has a nominee agreement for a house or land (I know right); and the Indonesian OWNER claims that he lost the SHM (any reason will do) he or she has to place an ad in a newspaper that if someone has a veto please contact the notary etc etc just need to wait a couple of weeks but what kind of foreigner reads local newspapers? So if this works with SHM why not with a BPKB? If the Indonesian wants to sell "his" motorbike he can tell the government that he's indeed the owner (with the dealer as a witness) and that he just lost his BPKB (which is actually in the hands of the western "Owner"...) Just food for thoughts...

Your right harryopal, (entomological) man that’s a big word, It’s not in my vocabulary. As far as what I said. I know that they use that word as a term for white foreigners, also Tamu’s, which I think means guests. From my experience, neither have been used as a put down, just a description, that is why I so carelessly used it. I will avoid it in the future. I joined the forum as a way to communicate with people for advice and help in matters, I couldn’t figure out on my own. I really appreciate it when someone did help me. I don’t think it’s necessary to be a hard ass and says things in a harsh manner. It is better to lift someone up, than to put them down. That comment about the (crunchy granola eating gonads) was hilarious, and judgmental. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink! Peace and love

Spot on mate. It was 100% meant to be judgemental. I'm judging you because you are part of a HUGE problem in this country. Visa abusers like you are the ones that keep fueling that corrupt visa system. If you want to stay in Bali long-term, then that's great. I am happy you love the place as much as we all do and I wish you the best in starting a life here. That being said, make sure you do it the legal way. Get a fucking KITAS/KITAP or get out. Otherwise, you are just fueling the fire and inspiring these shady visa agents to keep up their old habits and attract more visa abusers who come to rape and pillage the island without contributing much of anything.

If you are under 65 or similar (retirement visa), NOT married to a WNI and being not a millionaire entrepreneur, hotel manager or another so called valuable asset for the Indonesian government it ain't that easy to get a KITAS. Basically you are right that KITAS gives you (and the Indonesian government) security. You pay taxes, have a local health insurance, contributing to society etc... It's also true that you will not be able to enter a western country longterm w/o proof of having enough money & being insured (why not in Indonesia would be a good discussion) But Jack, young people having dreams. Social budaya for a couple of years when you do some online dollars why not? you could argue that they are fueling the gentrification.adding to the problem that young Indonesian families can't afford to rent a small house but that's a worldwide problem, not only on Bali

Yes, hard words indeed, but in this case, I stand by them. You yourself outlined a major issue plaguing Bali right now and that's gentrification. Yes, it's a worldwide issue but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be addressed. Unfortunately, the same people complaining about gentrification are the ones contributing to it because everyone wants their own slice of paradise. I'm just saying be the change you want to see in the world. Lead by example. I apologize if my words come across as too harsh, I am not trying to be an asshole. I'm just stating facts that are hard to swallow.
