America will get the president that it deserves and the likely options are truly scary...

You have to understand that many Americans judge people by who they are rather than whether they are capable of doing the job or not,,examples,,Regan (actor),,Arnold whatever his name is(cant spell it) again an actor and Governor of California, and Jesse Ventura a wrestler who became governor of some other state,

I don't care for B. Sander's views but at least he seems to be honest. I don't know if Trump is the best choice but I think some like him needs to stop this pattern.

Sanders as a young jewish enthusiast did his mission in a kibbutz. Think US relations aren't bad enough with the Islamic world now? What further endorsement is needed?
tintin
Who gives a f&ck what the Islamic world thinks?
Nydave
Well there are those of us who live in the islamic world,in fact the majority of the members on here do,if all of them were to say '''who gives a f&uck what the islamic world thinks'''then I believe our lives in Ri would be a whole lot different,We don't have to agree with everyone's beliefs or religions, just respect them and I feel the world just might be a nicer place to live,- - - Updated - - -Well there are those of us who live in the islamic world,in fact the majority of the members on here do,if all of them were to say '''who gives a f&uck what the islamic world thinks'''then I believe our lives in Ri would be a whole lot different,We don't have to agree with everyone's beliefs or religions, just respect them and I feel the world just might be a nicer place to live,

Nasty stutter they NyDave.Personally I would be happiest if all the devout Moslem were to up and leave the planet, and even happier if they would take a Christian and a Jew under each arm. I find the entire discourse of whose God "invisible big buddy is the best" idiotic, time consuming and dangerous.
Nydave
Yeah don't know what happened there, was sending from my phone and must have clicked on the send button twice,Sorry about that guys

It's looking like a Clinton v Trump final, which of them will win is impossible to say because anything can happen in American politics,As for the other candidates, can you imagine President Rubio,or President Cruz,we are a north American country not south American, actually President Trump don't sound quite right either
tintin
...,actually President Trump don't sound quite right either
You're right, Trump's German wine-growing ancestors were named Drumpf...

More concerning to me is that huge numbers of Americans seem happy to vote for a person who gleefully mocks the handicapped, ethnic and religious minorities, women he doesn't find attractive, and anyone else he disagrees with. While Hillary Clinton is no angel, Trump comes across as a total sociopath. What ever happened to a once great country that it would even consider such an idiot for higher office? No wonder the comparisons to Hitler and Mussolini... perhaps not far off.

Relax people! In living memory the American presidents never turn out as good or as bad as they look to be during the election. I can go back to Kennedy if you want (sob!)? It would all be so simple to change too. With one simple addition on the ballet form: "None of the Above".

erm....1. Nixon2. JW Bushboth turned out quite beastly
Yeah, agreed but they weren't near as bad as many thought they would be. Almost unimaginable in the case of GW but most were sure he would cause WW3, but even Nixon was recently refurbished as "not really so bad". Course that's usually done by those that weren't there...
Mark
Fair enough that some presidents turned out better or worse than the public thought at the time of election, but when has America ever seriously considered electing an obvious sociopath and all around terrible human being like Trump?
tintin
Trump certainly belongs to the list!

At first being a native-born American I totally avoided this thread because I have heard so many misconceptions and had to endure so much criticism of my native land and its government's actions so long over here I could puke. The US isn't perfect, and no country ever was, but it has the best reputation historically that it is impossible to think of any place else that could conceivably think of replacing it as the leader of the free world.Everyone that has posted here to my recollection is either a non-american or is someone who has left their native land to find a better place in the US.To vote for either apparent candidate that now seem to be the choice left is frankly totally unappealing to me, however what has been missed by all of you poor panic-stricken posters is that there is a body in the US that the president must deal with in order to accomplish anything. That body is the US Congress, and despite all the outrageous proposals any candidate might make it is all bluster and no action without congressional approval. If you doubt this, and have any knowledge of what has been going on in the US for the last seven plus years you can see this very factually. The man in office (which this poster voted for twice) is about as completely dysfunctional as any president since Jimmy Carter (who will one day become the first ever Baptist saint). So sleep peacefully tonight and quit wetting your collective pants it just ain't gonna happen.

Oh, and I'm American too. Problem with your safeguard congress is they are largely Republican led and not amenable to working with Democrat Obama, hence his 7 year problems with governance. That might be completely different if a new demigod like Trump was voted in on a wave of populist demand as it is actually shaping up to be.
