Hi guys,I was wondering if it is possible to get a tourist visa when landing in Bali if you are a citizen from a country that is eligible for the free entry. And does this tourist visa still require a visit to denpasar to be extended or will it automatically be valid for 2 months?Lastly, do you need to show a ticket out of the country within 2 months for this visa?

The free 30 day Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available but cannot be extended. The US$35 paid Visa on Arrival (VOA) is also available and can be extended once for a further 30 days. It does require a visit to the Immigration office in Denpasar or the one on the by-pass not far from the Airport/Toll road circle to complete the extension.A ticket ex RI is needed but sometimes they don't bother to ask...show a current credit card.A Tourist Visa is available by applying to the nearest RI Embassy/Consul in the home country. It takes a few days and an outbound ticket is required. It must be used within 90 days of issue and, once entered RI, is valid for 60 days. It is not supposed to be extendable but I know some people who have managed to do that in Bali as the No. is the same as a Sosbud Visa (211)...but it requires a sponsor for the extensions.

Most airline itineraries are now sent as either a text file or pdf in an email to the traveler. Both formats are able to be manipulated such as changing the dates and/or traveler's name. It has been pointed out that these documents are valid proof of onward travel. Of course no one here would advocate their use but it is still an interesting fact.
I'm not 100 % but pretty sure that one month ago (when I was standing at the immigration desk @airport) I read that now you CAN extend the free visa for further 30 days too? I know you couldn't some months ago, anybody knows if they changed that AGAIN? I mean hey it's Indonesia, one day go-jek is forbidden, next day they changed their mind and it's legal :)

So basically:FREE VoA (Visa on Arrival) at Bali Airport = NON extenablePAID (cca $35) VoA (Visa on Arrival) at Bali Airport = extenable (at Bali Immigration Office)*This is the main guidance & local "rule" of law & common practice, but like anything in Indonesia there might be exceptions.

I know a lady (Balinese pembantu) who organises various visa extensions within a week of expiry. Says she has a friend at Immigrasi. Very reasonable costs.

Due to changed location I last used her visa service March 2014. I used a registered agent September 2014 and did not have to attend immigrasi for photo and fingerprints. He warned me that next trip to Bali I would have to do so.Visit #1 from memory she had me sign the form at the villa. I had no problem exiting and returning to Bali with those extensions in the passport.

I had no problem exiting and returning to Bali with those extensions in the passport.[/QUOTEWhat visa are you talking about here when you say the above highlighted comment? An extended VOA does not permit exiting and returning and neither does a single-entry Sosbud.....once exited from RI those visas become invalidated.

@ #13. Davita, sorry in both instances visas were tourist. Just saying when leaving Bali and subsequently returning to Bali using a new visa, those visa entries (in the passport), caused no problems.

I'd be interested to find out how she gets around Visit #1 where you make the Application and sign the form yourself. And how she gets around Visit #2 where you need to be photographed and have finger prints taken.Visit #3 to just pick up the passport with the Visa extension in it, can be done by anyone on your behalf. This pembantu sounds like someone to steer clear of.
If you use an agent to extend the 30 day visa on arrival then you only need to visit once (2nd time) to take pictures and fingerprints. The agent lets you sign the paperwork in advance (visit 1) and will pick-up your paperwork afterwards (visit 3)
