I could be wrong but you cannot get a exemption to travel to Indonesia if you do not have a visa to enter the country.
I am applying this week but i have a visa.

G'day Fred, yeah that was something I was told by a guy I spoke to the other day. It makes sense too but I'm not rich enough to be able to throw away $800 which is likely to happen if I don't get an exemption approved. Although in fairness the agency I have been talking to told me tha the visa is good for 3 months before you have to use it so gives enough time to make multiple applications to ABF.

I just applied this morning and stated I was planning to go overseas for an extended period of at least 8 months. I didnt mention I had Kitas so will let you know how it turns out.
Reading their website being overseas for min 3 months should be good enough..
Fingers crossed

From the research I've done the 3 month + thing seems to work a lot of the time. I'll be applying last week October and I am hoping for November arrival. Very interested in everyone here's results. Thanks for all the replies so far keep 'em coming!

ok people 5 hours later and our exemption has been APPROVED.

I listed the country as Indo and no mention in the application was made of entry permit and it was approved

Wow good job! Did you upload proof of account balance or tenancy agreements or not required? As I am rushing around like mad to rather all that stuff, if it's not needed please do specify
Fred2
Ok I just put my exemption in , copy of passport with visa, copy of driving licence, out by late November back late February. see what happens
Juggler
The only thing I submitted was a copy of our passports.
I think the key factor is tht you will be gone for at least 3 months, our case at least 6 months. I am under the impression they dont wont people coming and going but they are happy for you to go.
Fred2
Well that was quick " travel is Authorized on the following grounds"
Traveling overseas for at least three months
I said we would leave late November and return late February, no tickets yet.

Just got granted my exemption but it was messy took probably 30 hours to approve. They messed up and granted exemption to come back not go but I called and it's fixed. Uploaded minimal info, passport, medicare, MDL. Basically told ok go but you may not be allowed back in it's up to us. I'll take my chances I think.

Hi John, for the PCR covit test your GP can write a referal for one of the covit clinics is my understanding. Good luck!

Well guys, finally made it through the Exemption barrier. Got clearance this morning. The 3 month thing cracked it I think. Now the next hurdle is to get a visa. Hopefully Bali Legals can help. What a damn palava just to fly for 3.5 hours to Bali. Just checked the available flights for when I want to go and looks like $1300 via Jakarta and then return from Denpasar, at least that's what it looks like for now. Really must get my retirement Kitas sorted out at the earliest available opportunity.

As we are all aware, there are a few of us with relations to Australia who usually like to stay in Bali also. Right now our only way back is to be granted a travel exemption, I am about to apply in the coming days and I know some people from here have applied both successfully and unsuccessfully. I ask those rejected, what were you rejected for? What would you do different if you could try again? We can upload 25 supporting documents so obviously it's important what you upload. Someone recently suggested to me the site may be run by bots that are searching for certain keywords? Any validation to this claim?
Given there is appropriate privacy, I will post updates what is going on with my exemption.
Let's work together and get us all back to Bali! Please use this thread so the information isn't buried in wrong thread.

How do you do this when a PCR test is only valid for 7 days???
So its $150 each to get a test for the visa application then $150 each for travel and entry..

No you have not overstayed as you are already out of Indonesia and EPO is not a problem as your Kitas is expired and you are already out so you dont need a exit permit.

Well this is crap news, we have already booked tickets for December but now the chance in rules!!!! my re-entry permit expires 21/10 and kitap 11/11. Immigration Jakarta said we need to arrive 21/10 or process a new visa when back in Indonesia. So now racing around to see if we can get off work early and find flights out of Melbourne, or just forget it and start a new visa next year.
