Anyone can confirm this : I heard that a particular visa is needed to collect the freight when it arrives. Is this true? If so, which visa would that be?

What is your status as to type of visa? In the past foreign possessions would be allowed duty free on a retirement visa. That is no longer the case, however as a foreigner contracted as an employee of a licensed company in Indonesia it was, and may still be.

Apparently only working visas get this now. Maybe its best to go through a cargo shipping company who handle customs clearance.
