I suffer from hypertension and do monitor my BP with a Braun wrist inflator machine.Since being subscribed Co-Diovan 160/12.5 (which I cut into half and take daily) my BP is consistantly below 140/90 which is reasonable for my age. I've since given-up taken my BP as it was so consistant. I recently posted elsewhere I've been to see doctors a few times in the last 10 days and they keep taking BP and mine has been 135-140 / 75-85 and doctor said that's good....even tho' I've had pains and aches and a slight fever.I believe there are apps out there where a convenient record could be kept and analysed...I'm just too lazy to find out.IMO 132/78, even before drinking wine, is a good reading.High BP is considered the silect killer...when it's too high.....it's also usually too late.:ghost:

According to the info I've been given by cardiologists is that BP is inconsistant...there is even a joke that going to see the doctor will raise the BP....especially if the nurse is 'hot'.It is consistant high BP that needs either monitoring to find the culprit, or some other control mechanism like I take.Lots of people take a 'childrens aspirin' on a daily regimen which does control BP but some say it can also cause secondary effects. This does cause 'blood thinning' and if cut...will bleed more profusely than normal...again, a by-product of the aspirin. After your accident imo they should have ascertained the cause of that extreme BP. Generally cardio docs use an eliminating process...i.e. check for blood count, cholestoral, diabetes, lung x-ray...stress check on the bike hooked up with probes etc. If those issues are clear the conclusion is...Hypertension...where the blood vessels, usually because of age, naturally contract and therefore the heart still pumps the same, but with a slightly restictive flow....so pressure increases. Something like Boyles law PV=K....as related to fluids.140/90 and close.... are reasonable pressures for mid-age. Less is better.

Just checked mine is 133/90 with a pulse rate 33....but I haven't had my first drink yet although I hear my wife clinking the glass....were out to dinner/party tonight so, if I remember, I'll check BP on return.

Well, I just have to join in this fest. My machine is an Omron T5 bought around 2006. When I got it back then I would often get readings like 145 over 90. But for some years I have been taking Betablok (Atenolol) at a low dose (25 mg per day) and I get lower readings, commonly 125 over 80 - but right now 107 over 67 - pulse rate 64. For sure some things like anxiety raise it. Also being up a mountain where the tea plantations are. Happy monitoring.

If Blood Pressure is an issue with any member or family this forum should only be seen as discussion. Seriously....GET a medical check-up right now!Any farma has the facility and experience to do that simple check...sometimes no cost and it may save your life....especially to those who believe there is no problem.....Here is a link to Mayo clinic on the subject...Blood pressure chart: What your reading means - Mayo ClinicI suggest anyone who knowingly feels they have an issue with BP should, honestly, deal with it....whatever. It doesn't mean you are going to die but, if not taken care of, will assuredly exacerbate that moment.I, for one, thank PSW for bringing-up this subject.....it is important.

I am 120/80. I have been at this rate for years. Currently I know it is spot on because the bastards keep checking me every 4 hours. I am in hospital with blood poisoning and bloody dengue fever.

But how about your temp....should be around 37deg celsius?

I am 100% serious on this occasion Paul. (yep, hard to believe) If you are ill try Bali Royal Hospital. The medical service is over the top actually. With a KITAS the rooms are 500,000 per night including three meals. I did have to protest about what they think a meal is and what I reckon a meal looks like.As an example, lunch is now tomato soup, chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, various vegetables, plate of salad, plate of fruit and a cup of tea with 30 teaspoons of sugar.Blood pressure is taken as the injections are added to the the IVF, this is every four hours. The bandage on the leg wound is changed every four hours as well. Sadly theses are not at the same time so sleep is impossible.WIFI costs 20,000 ($2) per week on my handphone. As long as I do not download or upload too much this is sufficient.
