Best sites to look to buy house or villa, mortgage

Hey all I want to look at taking out a mortgage instead of renting using my partners Indonesian name, with perhaps a notary agreement. Yes I know the property goes to her blah blah but if it's not more than I'm paying in rent I don't care. I just want somewhere to call mine when i stay in Bali. What I'm finding is Facebook to Rumah123 prices vary greatly, where would you look? Balimoves is near my old place in Sanur is that a "bule price" type thing as it appears? What are the best sites to look at, I will use a deposit and want to mortgage the rest, we have a solid banking history with BCA if that helps.

Best deals I've ever found were going to a neighborhood I like and just hitting the streets. Go to all the warungs in the area and strike up some conversations with some locals. Odds are they have a friend of a brother who's cousin's uncle has a house in the area or something like that. I've also used OLX.co.id to some success. As always, prices are a little bloated on there but if your nego skills are sharp, you can really find some steals. Stay away from any real estate sites in English. Pure scammers.

Fact is that the owners make the prices here, finished. If you find them inflated then that's because A) they are and the owner doesn't need to sell or B) You didn't bring enough dosh to the game, C) You haven't looked far enough and possibly have false expectations of how cheap that area should be... But good luck.

My bank sends the list of homes that they have taken over, Rumah 123 and Facebook are good as long as you get the Indonesian price and not western price. You will not get a mortgage and your income from Aust will not count for your girlfriend.

That has very much turned out to be the case, need a business certificate or she needs to have a job with a salary there. Thanks for all the replies.

My be have a good look around for a long term lease/rent, your girlfriend not you. I have friends that pay between 5,000-10,000 Aud per year for good houses, one mate pays 4500 Aud for 3bed 1 maid room/2 bath rooms, no pool but 5min by bike to beach(behind Bintang supermarket), so if you look around you will find bargains.

This is absolutely correct. The house I used to stay in I paid around 10 juta/month for a 2 bedroom beautiful house (cleaning, wifi and gardening included). When I moved out, some Europeans moved in and I ran in into them a few months later. It came up naturally in conversation that they are paying 20 juta/month for that same house. No renovations or changes to the house at all. the owner just decided to make up a new price and the Europeans didn't even seem to question it. It helps to do a lot of research about the area and try to know what a fair value should be so you don't get tossed
