Not all "masks" are the same. Those "doctors and nurses in the world" are probably not wearing crummy masks, in those places where they can get "real ones". Now, where in Bali can anyone get a "mask" that actually does anything much? As for that person's "fairly balanced look at the south of Bali in the Pandemic". She wasn't referring just to those in "south Bali", but Americans everywhere in Indonesia! I don't know about you, but going back "home" to the USA wouldn't be a sensible priority to me. I'm not an "American" and even if I were, what airline would take me there? Just because you live in Karangasem doesn't mean you're somehow "more safe". Russia's Putin the other day claimed the virus wasn't a big deal there! Yeah. And if Russians were worried, they should drink more vodka and drive tractors! (Guess that Russia doesn't have drink/driving "rules".) ;) .

Yeah I have a feeling you're right. Just out of curiosity, what are land prices going for up there? Down here in the Bukit, you really gotta negotiate hard to get something for under 300/are which is just absurd to me and not worth the price at all for the area.

Trust is a funny old thing. I've always found the saying "trust is good, control is better" more reflects my nature. Currently there is no treatment for the virus ,forecasts for inoculations are 12 to 18 months away ,so logically the only visitors will be local maybe 6 months ahead ,I agree with that . Airports and planes are unwise, unless one is immune and who knows about that as the antibody tests are unreliable . Never mind the economic downturn .

Unless you are actively in the market there's really no way to tell what land prices are - but just as food for thought I know of a well known Ubud realestate guy that sent his "boys" all over the area checking out who was losing at cockfights and needed money - the thinking being there might be a good place to ask about buying land. In the mean time with most of the population out of work there probably could not be a better time to rock up with some good hard cash...
