Hi all, thanks for the add. We are taking a year off our lives in Vancouver, Canada and relocating to Bali this fall. We have two kids who we will be putting in school if all goes well, otherwise I will be homeschooling them.

Just a cautionary note. Between now and your Fall the Corona virus may have made a profound difference to any travel plans and it is impossible to predict which way it will go.. If you are making advance bookings it might be prudent not to just go for the cheapest fare but tickets which can be redeemed if cancelled or have the dates changed. With any transit stops there is the increasing likelihood that temperature testing may be done so that any sniffle or cough might find you in quarantine somewhere. Sorry to be a wet blanket but the situation is very fluid and I think will change considerably between now and September.

What kind of visa are you coming on? I have used the free VOA (30days), the 60day visa back to back and the Sosbud ( initial 60 days then four monthly renewals). It is expensive enough for an individual but multiplied by 4 it is going to cost you a lot never mind the logistics of having to leave the country to renew. Maybe you have some other visa that I am not aware of. I guess you are thinking international schools which are also expensive. Homeschooling? Good luck with that. How will your kids adapt without classmates to hang out with? Not something I would recommend. But without any background information I can't really offer any advice except I hope you have a healthy bank balance or have an independent source of income. You won't be able to work here but online working, though technically illegal, is possible. Anyway, good luck. Bali is a great place.

Some solid advice Harry, as I frequently hop backwards and forwards between Perth and Denpasar just a month ago shares in Air Asia looked like a good idea to me, now not so much. I had to drop a few friends at the airport lately and many of the Citilink and Jetstar flights just said "cancelled" on the board and I bet those cheap tickets don't offer any insurance. Ive flown with the majority of airlines at least for my route the Air Asia flexi fares are the most affordable easy to change, although other airlines and those booking sites offer it usually more expensive.

Signs now of panic buying at least in Jakarta as Indonesia accepts the Corona Virus has infected people here. Watching midday news and a passenger getting off a flight in Israel only to find that they had overnight required quaranting of people from her country. What stop overs are likely to be part of your itinerary?
