So previously (dulu) we could order stuff online from overseas and not pay any duty if the value was under $75. That has now (sekarang) been lowered to US$3. On the plus side, the tariff has been lowered to 17.5%.
It seems like the government wants to push people buying from local suppliers. It should help to grow e-commerce in Indonesia. I am not sure though if tariffs are good overall for the economy.

Good news is that imported books and magazines are totally exempt from fees and taxes now...
On another point, I have been following a FB group discussing the topic of customs fees, and it seems that buying used stuff on Ebay is technically illegal, as it is prohibited to import used goods into Indonesia. I was pretty surprised by this as I know several people who frequently buy used stuff on Ebay (the main site) or via its joint venture in Indonesia, ebay.blanja.com...
