What is the point of these payment providers?

I have seen people in stores struggling making payments with OVO and have heard of people losing money in Gopay using it for ordering food, so I wonder what is the use case of these services. OVO is massive, its everywhere. The old days of getting, buy one get one free deals with your credit card , where you needed 5 different bank cards is now just one card OVO. Not sure how long it will last but in Surabaya there is deals in every shop.

So it is a credit card also? So people sign up for OVO and then make a bank transfer to top up their OVO funds? I can see and advantage of transferring say 1 million into your OVO account and just using that for small purchases and you don't have to give people your bank card. Also, you don't have to worry about small change. But only convenience stores here seem to use it where I live. They must have transaction fees though. So many of these payment providers get you hooked with zero or low fees and then raise their fees to stupid levels like Paypal.

ovo is part of lippo group ,but they want to sell it as it was burning up cash ,currently in bali its not very interesting . it is not a credit card you have to load b4 using .
