Badung - Regency (Regency)
Badung issued regulations prohibiting foreign nationals (foreigners) living in the boarding house. The reason, boarding houses are now a choice for tourists so that there is potential for lost regional income.
The regulation was stipulated in Perbup Badung number 35 of 2019 concerning application procedures, re-registration, and adjustment of boarding house management permits. This regulation was set on July 17, 2019 and signed by the Regent of Badung I Nyoman Giri Prasta.
The fifth part of the Decree regulates the obligations of the boarding house manager and the rules of order of the residents of the boarding house. In article 7, it is explained that the obligation of the boarding house manager to have a permit, not renting boarding houses for less than one month is about prohibiting foreigners living in boarding houses.
Head of Public Relations of Badung Regency Government Made Adnyana said the regulation was issued to curb rogue boarding houses. Not only that the prohibition of foreigners living in the boarding house to maintain the image of tourism.
"We do not know whether or not (foreigners living in kos), which is clear to prohibit foreigners to realize the image of quality tourism, avoiding misuse of boarding houses as hotels or economic facilities," Adnyana said when contacted via telephone Thursday (10/10/2019) .
Badung is a district that has many tourist destinations that are already popular among foreign tourists, including tourist destinations in Kuta, Jimbaran, to Nusa Dua. Currently the trend of boarding houses can be rented daily or weekly. This is predicted to reduce the occupancy rate of rooms in hotels in the Badung area and reduce Regional Original Revenue (PAD) from hotel taxes.
"That will affect hotel income, they should stay at the hotel, which is taxed, meaning that this will affect the PAD. What is clear is that it creates quality tourism," he explained.
