I could get a free entry to Bali, but I prefer to pay for a VOA, because VOA is extendable for an other month. Can this be done?I know obtaining a 60 days tourist visa at the IN Embassy is also a possibility.***Thanks a lot.*** Not all embassies btw. Just read that a 60 days Tourist Visa is e.g. not possible in KL, but is in Penang.
sakumabali
yes sure no problem
Markit
That's a really good question Miso and one I'd whack on FB if I were you.
MiSO
Well, Markit, if my question mark is your question mark too, then I do need some more digging.Hi Sakumabali, how do you know? By own or friend's experience?
sakumabali
well it happened to me some days ago. I wrongly believed that I could extend the 30 days free visa too...I have been first out of the plane so, after the officer informed me that I cannot extend the free visa another month (he also mentioned that I could still purchase the old VOA for 60 days but then have to go back in line), I took it anyway because I just wanted to get out of there. It later turned out that the guy was right and I couldn't extend my free 30 days visa
MiSO
Hi Sakumabali, thanks for getting back to me. Really good to read that you can even buy 60 days VOA at the airport. Strangely there is not a lot info online and the embassies I wrote to never replied. Thanks again! :lemo:

It's not possible to buy a 60 day VOA on arrival, only for 30 days. This can be extended for another 30 days by going to immigration on the bypass at least 10 days before the 30 day expiry date. It will take 3 trips to immigration (1st to lodge the documents and pay, 2nd for fingerprinting and photo, 3rd to collect) Or, you can use an agent, but you will still have to go to immigration one time for fingerprinting and photo.
sakumabali
Hi Matsaleh both of them - the free and the the old VOA - are valid for just 30 days at once. the point is, you can extend the the VOA the free 1 you can't
matsaleh
Thanks sakumabali. In your previous post you said, "(he also mentioned that I could still purchase the old VOA for 60 days but then have to go back in line)...", which MiSO was pleased about. I was just making it clear that the initial paid VOA is only for 30 days, not 60.

Do you have to be photographed and fingerprinted when you extend a visa each time you enter Bali. Even when its been done for a previous recent visa attached to the same passport. Your fingerprints don't change. Perhaps ones appearance is a bit different from the passport photo. Don't mind using an agent but the taxi return fares ex Sanur cost about 250k .

Thanks for the bus suggestion. I have seen the Kura-Kura on the Sanur main street.

After twice reading this string, I am still confused with these exchanges. What I now understand (with further investigation) is:1) Citizens of 45 countries can enter Indonesia from a limited entry points (Bali is one of them) and remain in Indonesia for 30 days without a visa (Australia is not part of these 45 countries), which I'll call a "free visa".2) Everybody can enter Indonesia from any entry points and pay US$35. for a VOA, which is valid for 30 days.3) The "free visa" cannot be extended for another 30 days.4) The VOA can be extended, from Bali, for another 30 days.Did I get everything right? Personally, I am not concerned with these types of visa. I am just writing this in order to make the situation for these type of visas clear, let's say as a "Public service."
Markit
Tin you were doing really well up until number 4: The VOA can be extended anywhere in Indo, not just Bali. I would further add that Indo was doing really well too up until number 3: You can only get the free, non-extendable, 30 day visa in 5 airports dotted around these isles. Slight problem is that you can only leave the same isles from any one of those same 5 airports AND NONE OF THE OTHERS!!!! I'm sure it's been noted before here but to save some poor soul who blithely assumes the lawmakers here have 2 or 3 IQ points to rub together, if you land in Bali and get the freeby visa and then decide that you would like to fly home or to your next destination from Manado or Sumbawa (or any of the many other non-participating Indo airports) then think again.

Or just take the TRANSSARBAGITA,wich uses the elevated stops on the bypass, and pay a flat fare of 3.500 for the same ride. There still is no official website for the Transsarbagita, but if you google, some kind people have put info about it on the web.It is only running for three years now,so you can not expect they already have a website full of information,is it not?

Ladies with tight skirts, guys with short crotches and the old and feeble may still find them a bit challenging as some of the drivers have an amazing idea of how far a person can leap from bus to platform.

It's almost easier to enter on the free visa and then do a one day visa run to Singapore or Malaysia and get another 30 day free visa. It will save you time (one day lost versus three days lost) and buying a cheap ticket to SIN or KL will not be that much more expensive than paying the first USD 35 visa on arrival, the USD 35 extension fee and the several taxis up-and-down the immigration office.Sarbagita is a government project which explains it all really. Pretty much useless.

I used to do this on my multi-entry Sosbud visa...out from Jakarta to KL in the morning and back in the afternoon. In those days KL was a cheaper deal than S'pore due airport taxes...maybe different now KL has a new terminal. The nearest foreign country to Bali is Timor Leste and, since last week, Citilink have started a 3 x weekly service there...don't know ticket prices but might be worth paying attention vis balibule's idea.
