Four Corners had a great report on how Australia spied on the Timor government during oil negotiations in the Timor Sea.

I haven't watched it in full yet, but one thing which caught my attention was how Australian aid money was used to renovate government office which was how the spying equipment got installed. Good evidence of how government aid money is used to promote a country's own interests and has little to do with actually providing real support to developing countries.
