Shaking All Over

8.22 am Just had a couple of heavy shakes like a heavy train rumbling through a tunnel. No damage here but wonder how about elsewhere? As Jerry Lee Lewis says, "Shakin' all over. Goodness, gracious..." but no great balls of fire.

We are staying in a villa in Sanur. Everyone ran outside. I look up outside and there are so many electric poles and other things that could potentially fall. In Japan we were always told to stay inside. Indonesian buildings, however, are another story. [ATTACH type="full" alt="3291"]3291[/ATTACH]

Yep, felt it this morning in Sanur, but nothing really bad. Considering the location of the epicenter, it was felt much more in the Missus village, 40 km South of Banyuwangi. But no damage to the jungle palace !

That sounds counterintuitive and remembering 9/11 when people in the towers were being told to stay at their desks.... to their misfortune. I have little faith in governmental instructions about anything. I can understand not wanting people to panic but I would be looking to get out.

That's a good point about 9/11. It reminds of this book I read not too long ago and can recommend: https://www.amazon.com/Fall-Rise-Story-9-11/dp/006227564X/ It was a disaster that no one had ever experienced and emergency workers had no idea how to respond.
