When in doubt... PANIC!.. Further down the payment options was a Klik BCA item which I followed and completed the process in a few minutes with an email indicating successful transfer without having to register a virtual account. So that saves a trip to Indomart but thanks for the tip anyway, Markit. My wife pays bills at Indomart. Me? I just provide the funds.

A stunning example of how to make the simple really, really complicated. I take it you are new to Tokopedia? I love them and Lazada (COD by the postman) or Bhinneka - all work great and have not had any problems.

In all honesty I truly believe that lazy people are responsible for all human advancement. Only guys that sit around hating doing dumb shit stuff find a simpler way of getting it done. The rest just plod along... or try and start "virtual" accounts in a foreign language in a developing world bank system to buy some shit when they only needed to plod down to the local store an pay for it... :cool:

Supposedly one can enter a virtual account for Tokopedia with BCA. The klik website has a line to register Virtual accounts and I tried to use this unsuccessfully and then got locked out of the account. So, off to the local BCA branch and had the account reopened but the staff couldn't work out how to register a virtual account either. I rang the head office several times, trying to find someone speaking English to sort out the problems. Long waits and several calls and got to speak to an English speaking gentleman but then lost the call about 30 seconds later. An hour of other unsuccessful attempts to call the BCA line. I thought then I might use a credit card and the Tokopedia site says" yes" and after putting item or items in cart select select credit/debit link but I can find no such link on the Tokopedia page and no way of speaking to anyone. The "Help" section just has automated responses none of which help with the problem. Anyone living in Bali who uses Tokopedia can make some helpful suggestions? Thanks in anticipation of responses.

At one point on the BCA "help" service I was being passed to an English speaker but found myself with an automated voice that invited me to press 1 for English and then another number for service and then back to the invitation to press 1 for English and around and around. Tried several more times and eventually got to speak to an English speaking person at BCA head office and no luck with registering. Tokopedia offer a 5 digit code and a long account number but none of those would work either. There are instructions about using an ATM with using the five digit code and my mobile number but without registering the virtual account then the money would just go into limbo. I have printed out instructions how to do a payment through Indomart. Thanks for the suggestion, Markit. Can I pay Indomart with my BCA debit card or must I use cash? And finally, is there a link to another parallel universe where things are simpler?

I am relieved to learn that someone else was locked out by BCA. Out of the country now and after one error on my internet banking "Klik" with BCA was blocked from paying my employees until doing everything to pledging my first born child qualified me to get back to their medieval methods of transferring funds. Now my poor people have to await at least 4 or 5 days in order for the funds to reach their respective accounts. To think that BCA is reputedly the best banking has to offer in Indonesia is a sad assed affair.
