Good day all,
I am looking for a good (new) car insurance. Anyone out there who has experience and can recommend a company/person?
Advice is much appreciated.
Best regards
Dick

If you buy a new car and have some finance on it car insurance is included with the finance.

Sorry Dick, how's about house insurance? Does anyone out there know of a good (and reasonable) one? Mine has gone up from 2.5juta (with earthquake) to 2.6 without - with is now 5 juta.

Thanks for the reply, no I don't have a 'finance' on it.
I just want to know if someone has good or bad experiences with asuransi firms as I am looking for a reasonable one who is not only taking the premium but also is 'home' if one has to make a claim.
Markit, thanks to you I am using Mr. Wong for my house insurance and just renewed it (same price as last year!). Including earthquake, robbery, fire, storm, lightning and you name it, it was about 2.7 mill.
He made an offer for this car-business but I like to shop around a bit. One can only learn from other peoples experiences.
Smoke if I may ask, did you ever had a claim and did they pay without to much trouble? (BTW the car is in the name of my Indonesian lady)
Regards
Dick

I had insured our cars (always for the first 3 years) with ZURICH and never was rejected any repair. They also give you for the first 5 days a replacement car.

Well Dick I'm glad to hear Wong worked out for you but he seems to have bumped my rates up for no obvious reason so maybe I'll give him a call and beg poverty.
You don't ask, you don't get!

Thanks very much for your answers, really appreciated.

My driver side-swiped a motorscooter coming out a side road and paid 2 mil on the spot for the scooter driver and I then claimed the full cost of the repairs on my full - comp policy - successfully. No mention was made of the other driver or any other "circumstances".
A tip for those claiming/repairing - your car will need to go to an "insurance" repairer and they are less than speedy. I didn't need the car so just let it coast until it had been 3 weeks and the car still wasn't done. Called my insurance company and raised hell and the car was done the next day. Moral of the story: bitch early.

Thanks for the responses but I am still in the dark about the relationship between drivers and damage claims. Assuming I have hit a Mercedes and it is my fault. If I get the general policy I am only covered for about $1000 for damages to the other car. I haven't had an accident for about 55 years and drive in a way with which I feel comfortable but not like a snail and my wife often asks me to "slow down". Mind you this might be in traffic where one as moved from 20k an hour to may 65 ks.
Markit, could I please have some detail about your full comp policy? Does it cover damage to another car?
Our present policy expires on about the 8th of June so some polite suggestions would be welcome. Thanks..... hopefully.

We have been using my wife's daughter's car which had an extended insurance policy at time of purchase and which expires next month. About 18 months ago we had a scrape along the front left of the car when avoiding a motorbike. At my wife's suggestion we went to Toyota to see if they would repair this before the policy expires. In Australia one would have to make an immediate claim in the event of damage and then have to pay the first $200 or more of the bill. To my surprise it was agreed to cover the repairs and this is now being effected.
We were told a new policy would be about $400 to $500 for the year. From what I understand this would provide comprehensive cover for our car in the event of an accident but only about $1000 to cover damage to another car. In Australia I would prefer to have "knock"insurance where my own car would not be covered but have complete cover for any damage to another car. This is considerably less than full, comprehensive cover.
I am really not sure how things work here in the event of an accident. Is it assumed that each party would have damage to their own car covered by their own insurance company? Would the insurance company of another person's car pursue me for payment for damage in an accident?
Thanks in anticipation of some insights.
Mark
I had the same issue when shopping for insurance for our new car. The third party liability was very low. The best I was able to do was increase it to Rp. 100 juta, which cost 500k per year - fingers crossed this is enough. Like you I'm not sure how things work in case of an accident, so I have installed a black box camera front and rear to record any incident. In any case, since the vast majority of people here do not have insurance, it is essential that your car be fully covered. If you do have an accident where the other party claims it's your fault (probably 100% of locals will do this even though in 99% of cases they will actually be at fault), best to let your insurance company sort out the financial aspects of the situation and send them video footage if you have it.

I actually don't know - in the last several years I've faithfully paid for my full comp insurance from Zurich, never expecting really much for my investment. I actually didn't even think about claiming for the collision until my staff demanded I do it. Surprise, surprise the insurers were as professional as you'd expect but not one question about what, if anything, I'd hit or had hit me. Completely different than western experiences where photos of accident scene and police reports are SOP. Here very relaxed and quite pleasant.

I use Zurich fully comp also , I had to increase the 3rd party risk for injuries to the value of my car ,with a supplement on the premium ,bcs it was limited to 50 juta which I thought was low , I will check with my agent whether this increase also covers 3rd party risks to damage .
Ya its a worry with the limitations on liability with local policies .

I appreciate that we are all good drivers but surely someone must have had an accident with claims made for damages by the other party. Is there anyone who can tell us how this worked out and what your insurance coverage was?

Car insurance due for renewal in just two days. I am looking at renewing with Toyota where the car was purchased by wife's daughter and the car is still in her name. The car is a 2015 Toyota Avanza. It was suggested renewal would be about 5 juta but with only about $1000 to cover damage to another car and it would cost another 1 juta for higher coverage. I really would be grateful for recommendations about best way to cover. Thanks for useful advice.

I have had a policy recommendation for a company called Binagriya General Insurance. Has anyone dealt with them. The previous policy expired on the 8th and the renewal offer from Toyota was for about 5,500,000 rupiah. The Binagriya policy is a bit under 4 juta. Most grateful for any feedback.
