What to do when the ATM eats your card

So I just arrived in Bali and want to get some cash from my Permata account. I went to the Mandiri (I think) ATM at the Bintang supermarket in Seminyak. After i keyed my PIN the system crashed and I got the blue screen of death. After hitting every key multiple times and swearing a lot my techie genes kicked in and I looked for the power point. I unplugged the machine then plugged it in again and out popped my card. Result!

I have heard those ATMs being skimmed frequently, so take care. Change your password if possible.

In Lombok, not having used ATMs much I thought I should check the money before taking the card. Money correct but card swallowed. Rang the bank no way to get the card back. Fortunately I had another card and at least the first card was not misused by anyone.

Here you only need to wait for the (daily?) fill up of the machine and all cards will be returned to the main city branch. Happened to me and was told to turn up at close of business and got my card back - has happened to others too. ON Lombok you say it's different?

It's a while ago. I forget the responses to my enquiry but the long and short of it was I lost the card.
