I don't know if it is climate change or what, but I suspect cutting down trees and building concrete structures and roads everywhere probably has the biggest effect, not to mention more cars and ACs.
They are building a new road between Singaraja and DPS which of course is great, but they are literally digging away whole mountainsides.
I agree Spicy. The Urban Heat Island effect is well documented and results in much higher temperatures when areas become more built up due, as you note, to fewer trees, more concrete and more heat emitting ac's. In parts of Singapore it is estimated that UHI causes up to a 4-7 degree celsius night time difference between built up and rural areas.
