I love my chili, in fact I just love food. Pity I won't be there in time to witness and taste this event. Maybe next time.:lemo:. For now I'll have to look forward to the local fish soup served up at Kintamani. Yum.

Fish soup in Kintamani??? I didn't know this was a specialty of the area. I've always heard the farther away from the ocean the more you should be careful about eating fish. You can't get much further away from the ocean than in Kintamani can you? Please tell me more - I love Bouillabaisse.
Steve Rossell
My mistake Markit it's not quite Kintamani but in fact Batur. I also love bouillabaisse but this soup ain't nothing like that glorious provincial dish. The freshwater fish is supposed to come from Batur Lake. I've had this 3 times over the years and love it and have never suffered any ill effects.

I'm always looking for great grub so thanks for that. Any idea what it's called in Indo? Any recommendation as to resto?
Steve Rossell
Memory's can be a little clouded some times:distant: but with the aid of google earth I think I've found where this particular resto' is. I'm pretty sure that it's next door to Sari restaurant on Jalan Kintamani. Google maps with photo's. The fish is mujair from Lake Batur and the broth is full of chilli, lemongrass, lime, etc. The place is on the edge of the caldera with sweeping views of Gunung Batur. The folks there were pleased that I had ordered their local dish and were very friendly. The serving is rustic with plenty of bones and fish head but a dish that I am certainly looking forward to enjoying very soon. Happy hunting Markit. p.s. It's worth the trip.
