Dear Podders,Whether you know, care or give a toss 2 months ago I was banned, and not for the first time, from this illustrious organ (and I use the term lightly) and then re-instated shortly after my banishment. All that doesn't make a heap of beans but what did matter to me was that I was made to understand that I dominated this forum. Believe it or not that was never my intention. Since finding this organ in 2007 I've unashamedly used it to make my planned trip and emigration to Bali smooth and easy. I've lived in lots of places and although a bit stupid I have learned that preparation is the Matador in the China Shop. I have learned so much from all the contributors here that I could build a beautiful house in Karangasem and live here like a king for the last 7 years. I just needed the right people to ask. Thank you Balipod.Since my banishment I've taken a step back to let the myriads of posters that were apparently disgruntled by my reported aggressive ways have a chance to air their views. Well, you can see where that's gone - Davita is talking to himself and Spicy posts his laundry list. I think this forum is worth gold for anyone wanting to make the jump to paradise and if we let it die that would be a tragedy. Alone the information available in the stacks is a Wikibali for anyone willing to search. Most aren't - they're stupid feckers that will fail anyway IMHO. So feckem!Farcebook has taken over where Balipod used to be so valuable but hasn't given what the Pod does so well - take any subject and follow it on down - FB lets everyone have a go but nobody knows much so the level of understanding takes a dive. Maybe nobody wants to know what the Pod has to offer anymore? Let's see.

It was a ridiculous Banning IMO. Personally I was disgusted by it. Totally agree with you the direction it has gone. Would be really sad to see this place die. People need thicker skins ffs.

Problem with Fakebook is any post can vanish depending on the whims of the page owner. At least here we can tell brethren wankers to FO politely. Remember if anyone doesn't want to read others posts there always the ignore option.Adding to Rangi said, be a duck, let **** roll off ya back.

The very thought of Davita chatting with himself is in fact quite scary. He will be like a kid in a lolly shop knowing his former sparring partner has now done his time and is out on parole.Of course if bloody Markit mentions cheese with in the next week I will campaign to have him yellow carded again.

As an admin/moderator you need to make various decisions. I believe I did the right thing at the time to handle the situation. Thanks to the people that continue to stick around. I approve every new account and new members need to write a short bio to prove they are not a spammer. I approve a few new accounts everyday, but not so many people go on to post any comments or questions. If each new member posted at least a few comments or new posts I am sure the forum could get more lively.Any ideas to encourage people to participate more?

Not sure what the attraction of a "special" section would be? Perhaps make a section "free for all" - a place where any, even stupid travel or tattoo, questions could be asked and no posting restrictions would be made. Who ever used it would do so "at their own risk" but to get to the Normal (I use that term very loosely) sections an ID check would have to be made along with the usual sign up process, as it is now.A side benefit would be that it would keep Davita busy 24/7....

It can be entertaining or it can be irritating, but I do find it more ephemeral. You may recall seeing something on a Facebook page but you have real trouble finding it again because Facebook is very poor at search - you probably cannot remember which Facebook group it was you were looking at and Facebook does not let you request a search for keywords on all the groups that you visit. So what do people do - they just ask the same questions over and over because they cannot find the last answer.
