The taxi driver taking you home falls asleep for a moment, the taxi swerves and nearly hits a motorbike, but he comes to just it time to prevent a disaster.? Report the driver? Get angry and make a fuss? Refuse to pay? Just pay and ignore it the most common Indonesian way?

It is always difficult to put yourself in another's situation, but sometimes it is best (speaking from one seasoned traveler to another) to shrug it off and be thankful it wasn't worse. Now I would like to ask you a question. Did it ever occur to you to offer a "thanks" to the kind people that have responded to your questions?

Give the driver a big tip and and tell him to go home and have a sleep instead of busting his balls for a salary that some of us will spent on a dinner.

Why would anyone take a taxi in Indonesia and expect to A: come out of it alive.B: come out of it with money left overC: I've lived here 7+ years and have yet to take a taxi anywhere. Patently you have issues with self preservation. For example: if I'm in a life threatening situation (OP) I don't quiver about what the right thing to do is...Dude have you heard of the Darwin Awards?
