It seems like someone in Australia decided to try and dampen Bali's tourism for a while.
Look at these headlines today:
Bali tourists warned about rare disease
Outbreak of Japanese Encephelatis in Bali
Australians warned about travelling to Bali amid spike in Japanese encephalitis cases
WARNING TO AUSTRALIANS HEADING TO BALI OVER DISEASE
Aussies warned about deadly viral brain infection in Bali
And in the local news:

We should start every day recognizing that being alive is a health hazard no matter how much care you take. And if you get through to the end of the day be thankful.

Australian press are regularly dragging out over exaggerating all sorts of problems in Bali..earthquakes and Tsunami was reported in Bali,,but hundreds of K away,,I think the Ozzie press is trying to promote tourism down under ,,the go over the Top to over emphasize problems in Bali,,this is just another attempt to keep Ozzie dollars at home,,

The only really silly thing is I think that most Australians are already used to these stupid headlines and are, as a group, cynical enough to understand that they stem from bad motivation i.e. that many newspaper publishers are major resort owners in Oz and want to drive the punters towards their properties.

It's a bit of a trump thing,,Fake news ,,the press for various reasons snatching onto a minor news item and pushing it out of proportion for perhaps their australian bosses companies benefit,,,and sell papers,,if I,d cancelled my trips every time there was an alert in the fake news ! I would not have visited for 20 years or more,,,
Plus all this fake news is causing lots of extra hardship to all sorts of merchants in Bali,,I was always telling friends aquaintances in Australia,,it's all rubbish,,don't listen to the headlines ,,there's more crime in Melbourne,,there are areas in Melbourne I feel nervous walking around in the middle of the day!

I wish "Fake News" was a "trump thing" but it has unfortunately been around for a long, long time but we called it "conspiracy theories" or "rumors" or even "lies" before. A part of society will believe anything they hear because they want to. This is the new "prejudice" - you don't like a part of your society or culture well just search for a minute or 2 on google and HEY, PRESTO!! you will find what ever malicious rumor or "news" you wanted to trash them with. I sometimes wish they'd just skipped inventing the internet. It hasn't brought what was promised.

i watched a CNN item yesterday with a media analyst making the point that Algorythms are designed to analyse posts on twitter and social media platforms to search for items having the most contact and passion. These items are then recycled to further increase usage. The more posts the more potential income from advertising. So it is the crazy stuff that drives social media with the eye on profit and no concern for social impact, truth or honesty.

Interesting how you conflate "contact and passion" with "crazy stuff". If you pay close attention you will notice that when you click on particular subjects, for instance, Brexit or slingshots, you will get increasing instances where that is being fed back to you as "news". It's getting so you actually have to dig to find anything new on the social media. It's all rubbish and will disappear in the future when most of us get bored with it - may take a few years but it's already going that way.

And on the topic of fake news, Facebook emailed me this morning to suggest I help celebrate the birthday of a friend...…….. she died a year ago.

Facebook is the most poisonous of all the fake news contributors,,
