Bathroom timber for mats

I’m sick of a wet floor mat so I’m looking where I can buy or have made 3 timber floor mats/grates. I’m in Penestanan so the closer the better but will go where necessary. Any ideas about where and or how much.

Don't ever recall seeing what you are referring to, but Bone south of you near Gianyar makes all sorts of things from bamboo. I have had custom items made there at reasonable prices as long as you can diagram what you want.

Sorry, a case of premature texting. Anyway square holes so water can run through and your feet stay dry. They are on the internet all over the place but at very inflated prices. I'm also looking to get some caps embroidered and seen a few places on the net in Denpasar. Anyone had any done? Thanks for your reply.

Would you believe I found rubber ones up in Bintang for $3.00. Might not look as good, but certainly not bad so problem solved. Thanks for your help anyway.

I think what tintin is getting at is that a discussion forum should be more than a notice board for kitchen and bathroom accessories. I tend to agree with him

As this is a Bali forum if I can't find out where to get something then this is where I would ask. And given that the forum has been rather quiet these last few months better a few questions about where to find things than it being totally dead.

Thank you harryopal. If people want an answer to the origin of man or black hole creation then another site might be a better venue for your interests. I note that there have been questions about fly screens and hospitals without drawing the hostile reaction that I received. I took the opportunity to look up tintin and it would seem that this is not the first time he has berated (bullied) a so called new member. I love Bali and have been coming here for 35 years and have a 30 year lease on a property in Unud. On most Fridays I have dinner with other expats, some members of this blog and without exception they are throughly pleasant occasions. I dont intend that the odd (in every meaning of the term) spoil my time in Bali.

Excellent idea harryopal. I wonder how the bath mat will have evolved by then? Will they be freely available to all or still available to those in the know.

My involvement with this Forum goes way back further than what is presently written on my profile (Sept 13, 2005. I would also point out that my birthday is not April 1, 2000, and that I am not 18 years old!?). I first came to Indonesia in the early 1980's and was working in Bali from 1989 until 2007. This being said, I just miss the "good old days", when the discussions on this Bali Forum had to do with deeper questions about Bali, such as its people, its culture, its history, and, of course, social-economic problems encountered by us, foreigners (Political subjects were, by a common agreement, taboo), deeper indeed than wet floor mats in the mandi... !!! And although freedom of speech is certainly the rule on this forum, I just bemoan the fact that the subjects of discussions seem to have reached rock bottom, to wit the subject of this string. Since you say you meet for dinner almost weekly with other expats, maybe the subject of your mat would have been a more appropriate and lively topic of conversation with your group? Just saying...

Thank you Mugwump for your balanced and informative reply. As you say many of the long standing members have knowlege from experinces that would be invaluable to newer members such as myself and that was what I was trying to tap. Let's move on. Thanks again.

Hi Foamcrest, I think your very innocent request touched a nerve due to frustration on the part of older members (rare, but some exist) because in recent times new members have appeared asking questions we old members can often answer. The forum's problem is that is too frequently a request is answered (frequently without so much as a "Thanks"), and then the newbie disappears rather than becoming part of the forum. This forum serves a valuable service and it is slowly withering away. That will be an unfortunate loss for all concerned. Your post at #12 reflected a certain resentment that was not unjust, but a justifiable reaction without knowledge of what is going on. From the history mentioned it would seem to reflect all the pedigree of an individual capable of becoming an asset to the continuation of the forum. So let us hear more from you. We all read things we don't agree with from time to time as well as outright errors, but these occurrences can be fodder for a healthy bit of controversy if treated appropriately and without malice. Without different view points this place would fast be too uninteresting to pursue, and just maybe we have become a bit too bland in recent times in an attempt to not offend.
