harryopal wroteBefore Bali I was used to cars ( Toyota Landcruiser - Holden Rodeo 4x4) that I knew where they began and ended. Adjusting to a 2015 Avanza which slopes away and I couldn't actually see the front and with Bali's narrow lanes, I managed to get a few minor, cosmetic scrapes on front and rear bumpers. No dents, just scrapes and scratches. I can't say they bother me but seem to horrify my wife. Where might one go in Bali to have these tended without paying an arm and a leg?
I'm not optimistic as the Australian tradition for contemporary scuffs is to rip off the front or rear "bumper" and replace it at huge cost. For example, backing in a parking lot at a Townsville hospital I touched the rear of a new, hospital, fleet sedan. There was a crack in the plastic tail light assembly and a shallow dent kind of U shaped about 4" wide. There was no one around but I dutifully left my details under the windscreen wiper of the car. Knowing how costly repairs had become I thought perhaps about $400 which I thought rather a lot.. In due course I got a bill for $2,600. What made it more irksome was that there was no functional effect on the car operation and as a fleet car it would be turned over at the end of the financial year.
So, any thoughts would be appreciated. I even think a surfboard shop could probably fix these scratches.
Yep costs like these are outrageous,,and we wonder why people just take off,,
