The Chinese vaccine scandal may only be a domestic issue but as the company involved produced most Rabies Vaccine I'm concerned that some may be stockpiled in Rabies prone areas of RI like Bali.
I've no way of knowing if this is fact but I'd caution anyone getting a Rabies vaccine to determine the source of the product.
"The controversy kicked off a week ago, when China's regulator announced that vaccine manufacturer Changsheng Biotechnology had violated standards in the production of a rabies vaccine.
The China Food and Drug Administration said in a statement that during an inspection on Monday, it found Changsheng fabricated production records and product inspection records, and arbitrarily changed process parameters and equipment.
The regulator ordered the company, which is China's second largest maker of rabies vaccine, to halt production and recall all of its products."
Before we run off in a paranoid hair pulling frenzy do we even know if this product was ever exported from China?
If so how how would you propose we learn if it was exported to Indonesia, and if so when and how would we be able to learn just what facilities used it?
I have had rabies shots and can view my records to determine when, but do you think the facility that inoculated me will be able to learn it's origin? My dogs were also inoculated and what would be our best guess if my veterinarian knew its origins?
It is sure good to be informed, but hopefully without some vague references we can't substantiate. Something of this magnitude has to have some background with enough depth to understand if it is any threat to everyone living here.
This isn't meant as a condemnation only a need for more essential information.
