Vaiku2016
Just a quick intro post to introduce myself. I am coming to Bali from the US - no it isn't because I am trying to escape our current President (although that might not be a bad idea!)
I have been to Bali a few times before and I have settled in the Northern area, near Tejakula. While I love all the activities and availability of things in the South, I need a slower pace for most of the time.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!

Good morning Vaiku. Your present situation leaves me curious. If you are here to settle how do you manage your visa and residential processing from up there? And what is the area like for possible house rentals?

Hello Harryopal. My apologies for taking so long to respond. I am currently in the US and finishing up some business here. We use a social visa and stay 6 months at a time. We are able to get our renewals done in Singaraja. We are able to find housing no problem in the North thanks to some friends and their villa.

Hi Vaiku...I hope you are keeping in the news re: Mount Agung's imminent eruption and plan your visit accordingly.
Even if she doesn't erupt cataclysmically the ash that will probably spew out for a while (like Mt Rinjani did) will travel towards the North as Bali's prevailing winds, for the next couple of months, are from the E.S.E around to S.

Hah, exactly... I was just wondering if you might have a good location to watch the volcano. Certainly there is no problem with housing at Singaraja, Lovina but not sure how much there is available at Tejakula or do you just stay at your friend's villa?

A good location would be on the beach at Tanjung Benoa or even some parts of Sanur. A friend, living in Sanur, says he can see it from his favorite beach-bar and he's been sitting there since Sunday slurping Bintang....I wonder if he can still see the mountain...:D

We will be staying at The Mahalani in Bondalem, a villa on the beach, but they don't have a view of the volcano from their place.

Hi everyone!
Just said id introduce myself to the forum. My name is steve. My wife and i currently reside in newman western australia, im irish originally and my wife is from karagasem. We are goin to move to bali in the next few weeks where i will fifo in and out ( very excited to be back in bali every two weeks)
Just looking for some advise on a agent to do our spouse kitas as it would be good to have the benefits of that amd any other advise people may have for me for my fifo lifestyle
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. There are agents who can help with a spouse kitas, but they can be expensive and many would suggest they are unnecessary as the process is relatively straightforward. One thing to note is that it can take up to a month to process the kitas, during which time your passport would be quarantined. Not sure if this will be an issue for you. I'd suggest you check expatindo dot org where you can find loads of information and detailed instructions on how to obtain a spouse kitas and the various documentation required (which is the same whether you diy or use an agent). Good luck.

If you do the visa yourself it is easy enough, but since you are fifo it might be difficult since you are probably on here max 1-2 weeks. Since the VOA is free now, maybe it is not worth getting a KITAS. If you have plans to stay here permanently the advantage however of getting a KITAP/KITAS for 10 straight years, then you get a visa for life. An agent might be able to get it super fast.

Hi Steve and welcome...
I concur with Spicy....there are still some Australians living in Bali who are FIFO (not so much as before) and they find, for themselves, a free VOA is the best visa.
Their issue is their WNA wives and children, who need a more 'stay' type visa, is required.
If your wife is a WNI.... then you're really set with her living here and you doing FIFO on a free for 30 days, or paid and extendible to 60 days..... VOA.

I'm Ronnie, recently went back to live in Bali after many years living in Sydney & Melbourne.
Career-wise I work in IT support, although I found it quite hard to find that kind of job here in Bali
so at the moment I work as an English tutor, preparing Indonesians who need to do IELTS test.
Outside of work I'm learning how to fish (any avid fisherman here?).
Yesterday I caught my first few fish, albeit in a fishing pond :)
I'm also a cat lover, although I currently don't have my own.
I often feed the street cats who come over to my home.

Well, afton, if you're a cat lover, you're not that much of a bad guy after all...:):):)

Hi Luca and welcome..
Do not be deterred by Tintin's joke....neither Groucho nor Karl Marx were members of this forum so you are safe here.
Fire away with info on your custom motor bike projects...I'm sure a lot of enthusiasts here although at my age it would need to have three wheels before I'd get on one...scrub that...maybe four wheels and non-shaking suspension and steering.
