spicyayam I have seen the same on our trees also. Also on a lime tree we have, which hasn't borne any fruit yet. You can see they make nests with the leaves. Keeping an eye out for those and removing them would probably be a good start and just keeping the trees pruned back. I see so many people asking how to get rid of ants in their house, but for me as long as you don't leave food out, that is the best solution and just learn to live with them to a degree.
mugwump Thanks for the reply and suggestion. Now there is even more reason for pruning and raking up the remnants. Haven't found any in the house and shudder to think of it.
mugwump Over the years I have encountered red ants in Bali usually in relationship to trees. It has happened in Ubud and here in Jembrana Regency so it is apparently not unique to one area. Yesterday I had my gardener do some pruning of overgrown Mango trees and we were soon inundated with stinging red ants. The garden has been around for years and although visited daily have had no problem, but yesterday's activity apparently sent out the alarm bells for the pests are present throughout the garden area now. Certainly a can of repellent spray can assist, but hardly something wanted around vegetable and fruit. Does anyone with experience with this problem have any comments? It is obvious that a nest was invaded but where do they live? Also I don't anticipate this being a takeover and possible continuance, however it would be smart to know in advance where the ants are likely to be encountered in the future and then efforts at eradication made beforehand.
Markit Ants, like assholes are everywhere. Spicy can you please change your fucked up picture? It makes me want to break things.
