Would anyone recommend a local architect? I only want a recommendation for a qualified architect that you have actually used not a second hand opinion. Most architects I have had experience with in Australia don’t understand the concept of designing to the client’s stated budget. Therefore I am looking for someone local who does understand that concept and someone that you have had first hand experience with who was able to achieve a design within the budget. Maybe you can find an architect who will design something to your budget. I think the problem lies really finding a builder who will. Most builders under quote to get the job and then you are basically left with a half finished building and you have paid them most of the money. Unfortunately that happens too often here. Maybe you can find someone honest, but i think they are the exception than the rule. I would be inclined to get plans made and then manage the build yourself. This works if you have time to watch the workers and have some experience living in Bali and understanding a little how things work.

Yes no luck so far either. I googled some architect firms, but they appear to be run by westerners. I guess I will try calling some of them to get prices.
