Post service and hiring a maid

Two questions if anyone can advise? Looking into how to redirect any Australian post and a new delivery address for when we move. Is post and courier services to a house address or a box office through the post office? If to a house then what would I do that 2 houses share the same street address? Lastly how do I go about hiring a local maid? Through the Banjarmasin chief or just asking around locally? Also what is the current wages and how is this done pro rata for part time staff? Thanks for any advice.

Maybe make a number for your house address and display it clearly. We get mail to our place no problem and none of the houses have numbers, but we are probably the only ones to get mail. I would ask around friends for staff. That is what we usually do.

Thanks Susan and Spicyayam, Spicyayam, the problem is not the number but we have a main gate - number 28 but then inside this are 2 buildings. Does it work like other countries, could I use 28A for example or a name for the house as well as the number?

I believe often the banjar will give you a list of rules or an example employment contract. There are extras to be considered, like a holiday loading of an extra month's pay every year. The government office that enforces rules like unfair dismissal here is usually referred to as Disnaker, a contraction as most Balinese offices are!

Officially I don't know, you could check with the PO. I think it would be easy enough to talk to your neighbor and decide who will be A and who will be B and mark it clearly on your mail box. Hopefully your postman then gets the idea :)

It wouldn't.....except you might get visited and asked to show details of ownership, tenancy etc....which some may find disturbing.

I live in a walled-in compound of four villas and that's exactly how it's done. ABCD...I don't know who made the choice, probably the developer, but the Postman knows who is who by now.
