My Telkomsel SIM card is going to expire before I return to Indonesia - is there any way to add Pulsa from abroad? Also, while in Bali - where is the best place to buy the actual Pulsa cards?

Put a 100000 on it the day you leave and it lasts for 6/12 months so will still be active when you get back.

Had a sim a few years back that had money on it and I left for 4 months, upon my triumphal return number and sim were dead. Had to pay 100k to get the number back, money was gone - surprise, surprise.

Just bad luck i suppose, but it is always better to buy the scratchcard top up card, the electronic way they sometimes do ( like buy from st vendor/ minimarket ck/ indomart etc ) it does not last as long as the pulsa done by the card and it seems to disappear faster or in a lot of cases does not even arrive to the phone, she who has to be obeyed has warned me never ever get that way always get the card type so for safety reasons i do, ( not just for the chance of losing the pulsa but more so in case she finds out i went against the ruling made by her ) :icon_eek:

I was told that the demise of my old sim/number had to so with it the length of inactivity on the number ie. if no calls made or received then DOA but if something happens occasionally then it keeps breathing. Maybe worth calling your number occasionally from afar?

Thanks for all the info.I did some Google searching and came across this site: mobilerecharge dot comIt worked! I added 100,000 to my SIM.They do charge a small fee, but it was a small price to pay to keep my number.

Sydneyguy has already mentioned a very simple system. I top up cards on a regular basis for tourists. They email me and I put money on their card. When they come to Indonesia they pay me back. The card in my phone is the same one I have had for 16 years. it is currently valid until December 22, 2015.

Are they using their indo sims in Oz? If you've had the same card for 16 years you obviously don't drink near as much as you say otherwise you'd have lost a dozen phones by now.

To retain your Indo fone no. I top up before leaving. A text stored says it expires 24 April 2015. Be back before then

Because you are not the sharpest tool in the shed I will type this slowly. If I was to put some more money on Normy's card it would then be valid until December 2015.I have mentioned that I am a drunk, at no stage have I said I am also a forgetful twat. As such I have the same card from 16 years ago. When I recently upgraded to an new phone the little darling behind the counter mentioned that she had never seen a card like mine before. I had to tell her that it was produced when she was 2 years of age.
