Name_not_found wroteI love Australia and its people but...
After landing on the eve of Nyepi we had to hold tight in a Kuta resort. Quickly realised Kuta is jammed packed with feral Aussies.
Locked up with bogans who had nothing to do except drink themselves stupid by the pool. So much for silence. Easy to see why the locals treat us with contempt. Met so many amazing people in oz. Are there any in Bali?
Well, you did arrive on Balinese New Year’s Eve, and landed in Bogan Central.
Not sure why you would be surprised (lack of preparation?). I mean, what did you expect?
“Bogans” come in all shapes, sizes and nationalities. My favourite ones, (not in any particular order) are
Australians, Dutch, Americans, Australians, Kiwis, Germans, Chinese, Australians, British, Russians and, wait for it, Balinese!).
Hang on. You’ve never seen a Balinese “bogan”? Believe me, I have, admittedly usually in late night “cafes”, karaoke bars, and other assorted dens of iniquity, etc. Even village bazaars.
There are two terms one should remember in Bali: Sekala and Niskala. The Seen and the Unseen.
There you have it...
:p
