Anyone have any experience of these double roofed tropical wooden houses? Pro or contra whatever, I've seen them but not lived in one. I can imagine there might be wonderful breezes but horrible bugs? What about rain?

I have been in a few open Houses like that. from what I see it brings in a little light , inside area between the 2 roofs is open but could be framed and screened off . Only high side wind may come in but extending the first or second even both could alliavate that.

The object is not really to let in wind, but to allow the rising warm air inside the house to escapeIt is quite an efficient means of ventilation and used by a lot of 'tropical architects'

Hey Shog since I'm designing it myself you don't happen to have any examples on hand do you? I'm looking for inside pictures/design tips, etc. I'll probably be using bamboo as the build material of choice.

My wife support me so she spends our money .:icon_e_biggrin:
Good news Smoke...after 10 years of marriage your wife cannot have you deported...even if you've been a bad buy...sorry, meant boy....:cupcake:quote from indosite agents....When your marriage has lasted for 10 years it will no longer influence your ability to stay in the country with your KITAP. Meaning that if you get divorced after a decade of marriage - we do not think that is the magic number when you should tire of your spouse - but according to the law, you can stay in Indonesia regardless of your marital status.

Apologies to the OP but I gotta ask - after 10 years marriage you get a divorce and are still allowed to work in the country as if you were still married?

As there is no IMTA, working at helping a spouse, where there is no spouse, imo becomes a legal grey area.In my villa kitchen I considered this washing/cleaning as work, which legally therefore required an IMTA, but have since been 'warned' to the contrary...:beaten:Should we open a new thread and transfer the irrelevant posts on this thread re: spousal kitas etc.....to a new thread?

UP to you, I think the double roofed question has about run it's course.
Smoke
I think we should have private forum for retires and for Mixed marriges( must be wni and wna) Google and other search engines should be banned from it .

Look at British Expats-Indonesia. The only contributor in the last 9 months has been lil ole me....and I'm Canadian!

UP to you, I think the double roofed question has about run it's course.
I'm not sure we have diverted too far from your OP question Markit as there does appear to be a common theme...the purpose of the double-roof, and what we regular posters usually say, is to release HOT-AIR ...:icon_e_biggrin:

all from you it seems

that you should not be in then in my opinion
all from you it seems
Well Smoke...when you create your own private forum (@ post#13) you can always exclude me. You could even run it in your native language then you wouldn't need google translate to post here in so-called English....:highly_amused:

Smoke you don't understand - the Kanakan are even more English than the English. Step on a Englishman's foot and he'll most likely say "excuse me" sarcastically - the Kanakan actually mean it.

Hope the photos help out . Be in Lombok for 2-3 days but once back can take more
