Sound like a good idea, but I live in Lovina so too far away. We tried a few teachers for my son. The teachers were nice people but they didn't seem to accomplish much. My son goes to a local school, so I decided to just teach him myself, mostly math and English. At least I would be sure he is learning and it is a good way to spend time together. There are a lot of good free resources and homeschooling programs available. I would probably consider finding online teachers in the future to help prepare for exams and so forth.

Hi guys, Hello there, I am keen to get my wee boy, Charlie Valentino, a good education in Bali now and in future! I am not long in Bali and we are trying to find our way for his education. An international school would be ideal but for time being we do have an alternative in-between plan, that can mean he can get good UK exams later on ! (Charlie is 8 years old and in year 2 at a local school +) I am setting up a wee weekly group for him and I am looking for 2 or 3 other kids to join Charlie in it. (We are in Sanur near Plaza Renon area.) A local person would tutor them each week. The Idea is they focus on UK key curriculum areas for Maths, English and some other subjects. This will focus them on the key learning points outcomes for future. This will give them a good foundation for GCSE study or exams in future. (We would just divide costs between us, perhaps Rp. 50,000 each a week.) (By exam age Charlie will hopefully already be at an International School. Or if not, he will still be prepared to do GCSE exams externally. A-Levels in UK will mean he can apply to go to university in UK or Australia) My skills are in this area as I used to be a secondary teacher in Scotland and know the field. Now living in Bali my plan is I could coach a local person on some curriculum key points each week. They then pass them onto the kids making sure they can do them! (Making as fun as possible too!) Anyway, will be great to hear from folks who are interested in my wee plan! Or just drop a wee note to say hello, whoever you may be! I have now been in Bali a few months and just back from Australia. But keen to get to get out there, join groups and get to know others, say hello and get about. I am also interested in forming or join groups for walking, hiking, trips, short holidays as well. I love bonfires, live music and good banter as well! Or anything exciting! Hi there! Thanks so much for your reply to my ad! (It went live prematurely so it wasn't quite right! - I will post again with a title highlighting the UK/Western curriculum for kids at local schools.) I am just starting tackling Charlie's education now. I always believe in solutions and this is pretty much my skill area as well. I am sure I would also be able to give you some input that will benefit from. Good to have a wee chat about it. Lovina is also a place I like very much! I was married there ten years ago and it is still the same now as then!
