How long I can be out of Indonesia with my MREP + KITAP?

I have a KITAP (5 years validity) and a MREP (multiple re-entry permit). How long am I allowed to be out of the country before the MREP becomes invalid? Is it ok if I only come back once a year? Thanks,

UU no.6 , Tahun 2011 Pasal 62 (1) Izin Tinggal Tetap dapat berakhir karena pemegang Izin Tinggal Tetap: a. meninggalkan Wilayah Indonesia lebih dari 1 (satu) tahun atau tidak bermaksud masuk lagi ke Wilayah Indonesia; KITAP expires upon the holder leaving Indonesia for more than 1 year, or leaving without the intent to return. A MERP lasts 2 years but should not be allowed to expire while out of Indonesia

Without a re-entry permit (MERP) you will not be allowed to return unless you get a visa to permit a return and I believe that will cause them to invalidate your Kitap. You cannot hold two visas simultaneously. You can try and maybe get a VOA and immigration may not notice you have a Kitap...but likely, when he swipes your passport, that info may appear...better have a reasonable excuse.

Davita's correct. Effectively, yes, your Kitap will be cancelled though I don't believe a reasonable excuse would be of any help to you.

Bottom line is you have to start the KITAP process all over again!
