Hi all new here just wondering what sort of money to rent a 2 bedroom house, villa or a 1 bedroom in a homestay preferably?:icon_wink:And is land cheap in the area? close to beach maybe? Thanks

Ignore the guy before me. If you want to know about Karangasem prices of land/houses then I suggest you come on over and we can have a chat - bring cheese. Homestay's are hotels with rooms - no 2 bedroom flats. If you want to rent a 2 bed house then be prepared to pay a bit as here there isn't such a tourist rental market as there is in the south or Ubud. What is available is local houses that are cheap as chips but you need to invest in "luxuries" like toilets/AC/furniture/etc. Bring cheese [I]and[/I] beer. Markit

Hope you dont mind me asking just trying to get a feel for your home there! I have a Balinese friend whos family lives in the region and they have a 1 B\R rental house on 1 are for $1000 a year. He tells me it would need renovating as you said to bring the standard up a little. He also tells me it would cost around $2000 for a 1 are block of land and aprox $10,000 to build a 2 B\R house on it? Does any of this make sense to you? Thanks for the link Markit I gather this is the land in question? What would the house and pool cost to build ballpark any idea?

Size matters Steve regardless of what the girls say. I could put a house on the land for me for 100,000,000 Rupiah - 40sq mtrs. a large bedroom, small kitchen ditto toilet with a nice balcony. That would be enough to live comfortably. House would be made of bamboo with an alang alang roof but if there's one thing I've learned here in Bali - that's enough and more than many have. That's the lower limit - upwards, no limit. For swimming pool figure about IDR3,000,000 per square meter. Your costs are gonna be about %20 to 30 higher, possibly more.
