Looking at moving to Bali with my 4 children 7,4,3 and 1.
Kids are attending Montessori in Perth so it would be great to keep that going, anyone have children going to the International Montessori Bali that can give me any feedback.
My husband is FiFo so is ok but will me and tge kids be allowed to stay in the country if im not working.
Any help will be appreciated

Hi Donzee and welcome...Spicy has given some info on Montessori and I know nowt about schools anyway.
Many Australians live here while hubby does FiFo....and send their kids to school in Bali, mainly to the Australian International school in Kerobokan, but I hear it's about to move.
You options for a stay-visa are limited. The best is a Sosbud but you'll need an Indonesian or resident as a sponsor, or an agent will be the sponsor for a fee. This gives 60 days which can be extended monthly for up to 6 months...then leave and return and do it all over again.
Once the kids are in school you may find the school can sponsor...anyway, the school is the best place for you to get information as many have done what you plan to do.

Oh lucky you!
In the new spirit of group optimism and since my new meds are doing a treat I only want to say I'm just so glad that you have embraced this fantastic family adventure (minus the man, obviously) of moving to a new 3rd world country with a whole group of small helpless children that don't speak the language, know nobody here or have a clue where they will be going to school or what level of education the darlings will get. That all seems to fit so well with the level of their parent's knowledge I just want to do a group hug!!!
What fun it will be for us all.
Please don't forget to check back regularly and let us all know how it's going :D:):D:)
Wonderful!

Haha are you for real?
What are you doing on these pages?
Maybe you are helpless but dont asume everyone else is
If you choose to live in you bubble then just stay.
What went so wrong?

He’s here to promulgate his perceived self-importance, share his vast experiences of nearly all things related to Bali, remind us all how fast he can cover long distances at seemingly warp speeds on his “motor scooter”, hates Australians, claims he lives in a jungle, and has “fun” (I guess), attacking new members of this forum. Plus he thinks he's "god". (Delusional?)
Don’t misunderstand me. When whatever “meds” he talks about kick-in, he does actually have useful information to share. Apparently, the “new meds” ain’t working right. (Might be fake ones.)
You can choose not to see his posts in the preferences section of your forum panel.
So, Donzee – you are by no means his first target.
My half-Balinese son went to a Montessori school in Ubud (many years ago). It was OK, sort of. He didn’t really learn all that much scholastically, but met many other kids, both expat and Balinese and some disabled ones. The social interaction was worth it.
As davita said above, the “best” visa for you is a Sosbud. That can be costly if you use an agent, but would save you the extra hassle of going to an immigration office every month after the first two months. That also depends on where in Bali you move to.

It must be wonderful to play referee and hope no one lays a glove on you but I would really value your reasoning why my post was so wrong? Let this be a learning experience for me and a good example to the rest!
Where I stand:
With the best will in the world I find it massively irresponsible, bordering on criminal, for a woman who admits she will be alone most of the time in a new 3rd world country where she knows no one, doesn't speak the language or have clue one how to pass the lowest bureaucratic hurdle of getting a visa to blithely expect support and "good advice" from a group of "responsible" adults.
I for one take that responsibility to heart and in no uncertain term wish to stop this idiocy before her children suffer, I give not shits whatsoever for her - but most of you seem to think its just a further reason to expound some bullshit you rhyme together from the depths of your wheel chair or zimmerframe.
Shame on you!
I have seen enough misery caused by stupid people with a dream of Bali.

Your post was needlessly acerbic. “Acerbic”, eh? In case you aren’t aware of the word’s meaning, I looked it up for you and came across the following, which IMHO, is relevant and succinct:
If you say something acerbic, or harshly bitter, to someone, it can leave a bitter taste in your own mouth that lingers, and the acerbic, or acidic, words can eat away at the person on the receiving end too.
It is fitting that the first part of acerbic sounds like the first part of "acid," because the Latin source of acerbic is acerbus, "sour-tasting." Acerbic speech is like acid, because it is sour and corrodes, or weakens, relationships. There are ways to use sharp words for humor, and some comedians are known for their "acerbic wit," but just as you would take safety precautions in using acid in a science lab, you should be cautious about using acerbic language in conversation.
It’s not so much that your post was “wrong”, but your dictatorial condemnation of somebody’s attempt to get some information from here, was completely insensitive and uncalled for. Who are you to be judge and jury? We all make mistakes, are entitled to make them and hopefully learn from them.
You often come across as a bullying solipsist. Not always, but often. In your own words you don’t care at all for this woman, but for her children’s well-being. Bravo! Way to win friends and influence people. Markit – Karangasem idiocy sheriff. Yeah – why don’t you arrest your self?

I kinda knew what Acerbic meant but had never heard of solipsist...had to look that one up....learn something new every day. Thanks!

OK. I surrender, Oh Mighty One. It’s not every day that we can write to “god” on a web forum.
I think that you might like Hotel Bangli. Maybe has better meds, beware of being chained up but I don’t think they have cheese. Hope you’re insured in any case.

Hi JohnnyCool .
Can i ask if your son finished his early years at Montessori or moved on to another school before middle school ?
was he able to transition to a new school with the friends he'd met at Montessori ?
Donzee
Thankyou for your help Johnny I thought I was already aware of the Visa I needed but had some conflicting answers so thought this may be a place to ask.
I have heard the new Montessori international school is quite good, so hopefully they will enjoy it.
And for Mr Markit have your say im willing to hear
Living near the Montessori school (walking distance)
Want to hear all the things you are so worried about for my children, maybe i havent thought of some of them.
If you want to make a decent point about something there are much nicer ways and people might think about what you say instead of just thinking you a pain in the butt, with a grudge.

He was about five at the time and there for six months, or so. We pulled him out mainly because of safety issues with the school. Later on, he went to schools in Australia and afterwards, Bali International School in Sanur (senior year). Lasted six months there, went on a holiday to Oz at his mother’s instigation, and didn’t come back. Nothing really to do with me, but marital problems were going on.
He worked in all kinds of jobs in Oz and in the end, joined the Australian Defence Forces.
Montessori schools are fine, if you can find a good one in this country.
Sorry – nothing more to add. Too complicated (aka adolescence)

I didn't quite follow your point so searched and found you mean the inventors of Google. I was inspired by their CV in Wiki and wanted to say thanks for your post.
You were correct...both went to a Montessori in their elementary schooling but I suspect it was their parents that were their inspiration to be creative ...and maybe because they're Jews.

I have one child of 29 so my options were always easier. I simply think it the height of egotism when a parent chooses a course of action with very little or no consideration what it will do to the chances and futures for their child(ren). I don't think overly much of the Montessori education at the best of times - way too toucheee feeellleee for anyone sharpening their elbows for the daily battles life sends us at the best of times - and it's never been the best of times in my long life.
Check out what the PISA examination had to say about Indonesian educational standards:
http://uk.businessinsider.com/pisa-worldwide-ranking-of-math-science-reading-skills-2016-12?r=US&IR=T
You also say your husband is a FiFo. This means dear lady you will be spending large amounts of time on your own in a male dominated society where women come somewhere in importance between cows and chickens (not fighting chickens) and you will have to box you way through some things that the men (and I use the term loosely) on this forum also find challenging. And all that with 4 small children in the south of the island in a country where you don't speak the language.
Must I go on?
Why would anyone think this a good idea? For the money? For the "experience"? For you it might just be great but for your kids it will be a fucking nightmare. That's what make me always so angry with posts like yours - it's either blind egotism or stupidity - take your pick.
Call on Johnny Cool if you need anything. I know where he lives if you need help.
Good luck!

Being able to fit into day to day life is very important, having the top grades being in the best schools is not always what counts.
good attatude, holding a conversation, excepting people and their differences, being kind are just a few things I think are important as well as education.
Montessori is amatter of personal opinion and I realise its not for everyone but my children are thriving in that environment so lucky me !
It seems that evan if you are smart maybe you lack all the other things I would find important so no wonder you have found it hard dealing with people in day to day life and getting help.
Thanks for your opinions. I see you stuggled to evan put that across in any kind of decent way so I just think maybe your a bitter old person that finds things too hard because of his attatude.
I also see you have alot of negative posts in here so you living in the real world or just seeing how many people you can piss off
Lets just leave it

I also evan stuggled to evan express an attatude showing you yourself have a grasp of the English language. Or that you strugged to answer rationally evan one of my points. But it's my bad attatude?
Good luck.
