josh87 wroteHi Everyone! Good to be on the forum now.
I'm moving to Bali with my family towards the end of the year for work. I was wondering if there are pockets of Sanur with mainly expats or even gated communities in the area. I've made good friends with the locals and expats from working there on a regular basis.
I'm just concerned that my wife is moving to a completely new life from Australia and that she would not have the stable base of friends that she has here. I'm sure she would still make friends but having one or 2 expat girlfriends would give her a sense of association to home.
Are there any events or get together that happens that encourage this? Sorry if I'm asking way too detailed questions.
No pockets of expats in Sanur that I know of. We’re all around the place. Your wife is bound to meet someone sooner or later. She might like to visit some charity-based groups in Sanur, such as Rotary or the Bali International Womens Association (BIWA). Perhaps a yoga group, or keep an eye out for events run by one of the international schools?
Several venues have Trivia Nights, or if she’s ready for something way out there, participating in a run/walk staged by the Bali Hash House Harriers. (They have three events weekly, on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. She’ll see parts of Bali most people never do, meet many people from all over and possibly develop a penchant for drinking beer while sitting on a block of ice.)
