Bringing dogs into Bali with us

Hi Me and my partner want to move to Bali but understand bringing the dogs is difficult. My main concern is the dogs safety, I would like to know of recent stories of people bringing dogs in. We will be coming from Australia to Jakarta with them, then we would be looking to hire an agent with groovy pets or another agency to help us the rest of the way. I believe it is possible but I don't want to book the flights until I have some kind of certainty that the dogs will not be harmed or killed. Thanks

Thank you for this, I don't think I will be attempting to move the dogs until the rabies situation is under control. Until then perhaps I can donate money to the cause. My dogs are far to young to be put at the risk. Such a shame. That video is so sad.

Welcome to the forum hillock... and to Bali when you get here. I hate to be the harbinger of bad news but you did ask. It isn't meant to be difficult to bring dogs into Bali...it's designed to be impossible. It's illegal and a search will produce enough information where you will find this. You might find people who say they can do it but it's at your risk and you did say your concern was the dogs safety. Only last year somebody illegally imported very expensive and pedigreed dogs from Jakarta, where they are allowed to be imported, and they were euthanized at the ferry crossing into Bali. The rabies situation in Bali is far from resolved. The local government has stuffed around with this for years , ignoring expert advice from abroad and there’s no end in sight. Davita’s comment, sadly, is the practical reality. However, it is "possible", but your pets will have to be quarantined somewhere for at least six months, probably at great expense. If a dog’s year is equivalent to seven human years, how long are you going to wait? Two non-profit groups in Bali that have been trying to address this for years are B.A.R.C (https://barc4balidogs.org.au/) and BAWA (http://bawabali.com/). Leave your dogs in Australia. Hundreds of thousands of them here and many non-local breeds can be bought. I have a Beagle.

Sorry, Davita, I can't watch your video, but I can only guess that it is unnecessary cruelty.
