Is it true that a KITAP2 holder must get every 2 years a MERP although if he/she does not want to get out of the country? If so I would very much appreciate if you would quote the law and pasal. Thanks a lot

As far as I understand from other forums ,the only merp you must get is at the start of the kitap ,ie 2 year merp after it is not required , changes though are happening I expect a 5 year merp to start at some point for the kitap .
Ya its a waste of money if you dont travel , but you know this country ,if they can screw the bule for a few shekels , they will.

Can't quote the law and I don't know where I heard it, but my understanding was that it was compulsory to get it renewed but that there isn't an official penalty for not doing so. Not exactly advice you can bank on, but there it is.

My understanding is that you don't [I][U]have[/U][/I] to buy the MERP at all BUT if you chose/need to leave the country in a hurry you're looking at some serious difficulty and waiting time. Why stress the $150 bucks? My beer bill for a week for fecks sake!
