Mark wroteThis is probably correct. Completely turning a project over to a builder can be a great way to be royally screwed if: a) you don't know anything about building; and/or b) you have turned over the plans and only come back when the project is finished. Populaire do good work and have a good reputation so it is unlikely that you would go wrong with them if either a or b apply to you. However, if you're in the trade (as it seems you are), willing to be patient and get your hands dirty (i.e, be on site every day, look at invoices and triple check quality and quantity, ask questions, measure rebar sizes, check concrete grade before the pour, understand MEP and generally know your way around a build and how you can be cheated by every vendor and subcontractor - who may all try to cheat you at some point) then you should be fine with a much lower cost approach where you become the general contractor or at the very least the project manager.
Can you get a truck load of concrete to a house build in Bali??? In Java the trucks only go to large construction sites 24/7 no time for small builds.
As for invoices there are 2 one that they pay and the one they give you, with a different total on it.
Justgary the first thing is will your wife still love you once you loose all your Hair??
No matter who you tell when you come back it will be different to what you have told them, My first mistake was having a screen door fitted to my front door. Went to sale office picked style, colour and paid deposit, The day came to install the door, the door looked great and two master craftsman to install:icon_eek:. I had to go out and when I return the door was fitted perfect excepted for one small problem .........
they fitted the door handle 80cm off the floor!!!!
Don't use mm as it will only confuses them cm in Indonesia.
Best to buy all your own tools as a builder here only comes with a hammer.
Please post your up date's on your build.
