I think Kwizien closed down a long time ago and is now available for lease Kwizien , North Coast Restaurants - What2do.Asia

That's a shame, Spicy. I had dinner there a few years ago; good service and great food.

Thanks for the info, just removed it from our database

Looked at North Coast and Ubud and in one word - unimpressed. To give one example, on the north coast where there are many restaurants in many price brackets, only one is listed (Seyu), and it does not say that the menu is Japanese, and gives not hint to price range. Compare this to balieats.com which has many (maybe 100 or so) with more detail - but it is not all that up to date - it lists Bali Apik which preceded Seyu. Also it lists some like Chonos and Admirama over and over.Tripadvisor has about 30, and they are a good selection. I couldn't see Seyu, but other recent additions like Spice Beach Club were there. If you browse the reviews and apply your own sanity filter you will learn plenty. As an example if you look at reviews of Jasmine Thai Kitchen, some say the food is nothing like in Thailand, and others say they really enjoyed it. Both reviews have merit I think, because the food is really enjoyable, but it could be described as Indonesian cuisine inspired by Thailand, rather than a faithful reproduction of what you may find in Bangkok.Lonely Planet is more limited with only 18, but they are a good selection, and Seyu is there listed as Japanese. So my advice to people heading for Lovina for the first time - you will do OK if you start with TripAdvisor.

Wasn't even trying to impress people with the places suggestions yet - but really appreciate your feedback. This is an on-growing startup, while tripadvisor, balieats and lonelyplanet have been around for more than 10 years (almost 20 for lonelyplanet) - so no surprise for me.I hear you about the numbers of restaurants in Lovina, but we don't cover only restaurant, but almost all category really - and will be Asia wide. So to be able to beat their numbers we require a huge team, which we will have once we attract some investors and get more fundings.By the way you can create guides like those as well if you signed up as a User. And since I know we don't have that much places on our database for some areas, we will appreciate if people can suggest what places should be included on those guides and we will be happy to add those

nightlife...you might want to add pasha (newly renovated) nightclub/disco... Location : Lovina on the Jl.Raya...compared to Volcano it has a bit more class.Another one is Grand Surya, Grand Surya is an hotel with nightclub and karaoke facilities (comparable with Adora formerly known as Blue Eyes in the south)..Location : Sririt on the Jl.Raya Sririt-Lovina.Another one is Monsters Bar&Karaoke, Location Sririt on the Jl.Raya Sririt-Gilimanuk.For obvious reasons the last two are not visited by many tourists.

Gil, this is good info. None of the guides like TripAdvisor have these. So you are giving balipod readers some valuable pointers - making them a step ahead.

It's about a hours drive (shitty traffic, of course) from Lovina although they are neighbours on the map. Wonder if it has anything to do with the planned new airport?

...............It's about a hours drive (shitty traffic, of course) from Lovina although they are neighbours on the map. Wonder if it has anything to do with the planned new airport?
Lovina to Seririt is about 12 Km, good road, moderate traffic, so a good estimate of driving time is 24 min. What contributes to the traffic are the trucks going to and from the port at Pelabuhan west of Seririt - it's at -8.194297, 114.83457.

Just like Candi Dasa stretches from Mangis to Amed.... according to the travel guides? Ron were you a boy scout in an earlier life? What's with the map coords? Can't see Intrepid Dan with his trusty GPS looking for the exact centre point of Seririt. Finding it and saying "Aha! his coords were a whole 0.00005 off!". But what do I know? Right?
davita
As one who appreciates exact navigation I put those co-ordinates into Google earth and landed on a small road on a bay near the Celukan Bawang Mosque. Seems there is a cement factory nearby, and a few docks for ships, but I don't see any karaoke bar! What are all those square fields in the area...are they aquaculture as they seem to be filled with water?
gilbert de jong
those few docks are the International Seaport..and there are a lot of fish-farms west from sririt all the way to pemutaran
BKT
The one to the left of the cursor I think is the Shrimp farm a friend of mine owns. The last time I went there a lot of the pools were empty.

The last time I went there a lot of the pools were empty.
Why?
BKT
Not sure exactly, maybe the demand for shrimp wasn't high at the time. One of those pools was used to breed fish for their eggs as well. I have a few videos on my computer of the place somewhere.

BKT
I'm afraid fish porn would be another grey area under Indonesian law so I think I'll pass on that one. Plus I tried to find it and its no where to be found.
marrisa.leong
I'd definitely go if you found a pool for it :)
