I hope this doesn't count as promotion, but I'm a regular visitor to Bali and have just got involved with an event this Saturday which I think will genuinely be of interest to other visitors and residents. Definitely a bit different from the usual clubbing or traditional dance performances, and it will help kids from struggling backgrounds in Bali.
Essentially, it's a big gala evening run by the kids of Stella's Child, a really great local NGO. It's at the W Hotel in
Seminyak this weekend and is going to feature fashion, music, dance, art, food, drink and a recreated Balinese village
The whole interactive event has been devised, planned and created by 73 young people, aged 12-19, who are emerging from child poverty to become a bright new generation of entrepreneurs. It will be a chance to see what Bali’s next generation can achieve.
The hotel has invited the kids to take over the ballroom and transform it into the kind of rural Balinese village where most were born. There's going to be free drink and wine, an art exhibit music, fashion, dance, a performance from local singer Eva Scolaro, etc.
They're also going to be showing the new range from the NGO's “Love Our Earth” brand, which sells across Bali and as far afield as the USA, Australia and Singapore. Tickets are available at
www.stellaschild.org, by email to
rsvp@stellaschild.org, or by calling +62 8786 2010 287. Doors open at 6:00pm and shows start at 7:15.
Thanks everyone, hope this is of interest to some of you.
