Does anyone have a good reference for an optometrist in Bali? It seems the ones I have scoped in and around Ubud are little better than check-out chicks from a mall.

Hardys here in Amlapura has a bona fide woman that knows how to use the gear. I've had optometrists in several western countries make a complete mess out of the job so she's not worse...

Here's a start: https://www.google.com/search?q=optometrist+bali I used to hear about people "paying" for the holiday in Bali by getting their eyes tested and new glasses at one of the Optical shops in the Discovery Mall. I think there's two decent optical shops right next door to each other.

Most of the named optical stores in malls have qualified eye testers and machines. I believe most send the measurements to Jakarta for manufacture of the lens so testing and adjusting later may be time consuming, if only in Bali for a short while.

Thanx for the tips folks, I think I'll take the Amlapura optical option. After all, Markit claims that there is a "bona fide woman" there to service my needs. :cool:

Well I didn't check the plumbing (don't usually get that until the second or 3rd appointment) but now days you have to be a bit careful...
