I asked a friend who rented a house in Canggu and she pays 50.000 rp per a month and now for Ogoh Ogoh 100.000 rp (for ogoh ogoh is the same usually is apart and people pay a donation as much they want).
In our case we will end to pay almost 420.000 rp per a month!!! crazy isn't it?

We live in a banjar in Bali and we got shock after got a letter from the banjar saying we have to pay 5.000.000 rp per tahun to the Banjar!.
There is two temples in our banjar and it seems the 5.000.000 rp it is divided by 1.720.000 rp for each temple plus 1.060.000 rp for the Banjar Adat.
We have been living here already for a few years, usually each time before there was a ceremony we got a letter asking us to pay around 500.000 rp maximun probably twice per a year.
Once per a year usually there is a bazar as well to raise money for a ceremony temple or for the banjar and they sell tickets, which we have to buy but it is up to the people how many do you want to buy, usually are 25.000 rp each ticket and usually the commun thing to do is buy at least 4 tickets, 100.000 rp, but is up to the people how many they want to buy.
This time is included on the letter and on the 5.000.000 rp and it is not optional or up to the people, it is write down 300.000 rp for kupon bazaars!!!! this is very surprising and not very good.
5.000.000 rp is the fees for people living here from outside of the banjar and not been active members of the banjar, for business is 6.000.000 rp.
I wonder for people who rent a house in a banjar for a few years who pay this? we own land here.
How much do you pay?
Josh
Banjar Sanur Kauh - 30k per month. For Nyepi (Ogoh-Ogoh) they ask for a donation which we are happy to give (around 100 - 150k).
Rubbish pickup 30 - 50k extra per month depending on how many times you want them to pick up per week.

Josh you mean you don't pay anything for the temples ceremonies? the 30.000 rp per a month arrive with a letter and stamps from the head of banjar, kelian desa dan kelian banjar?
Are you renting or owning a house there?
Thanks for answer

renting house in nusa dua , per annum ,banjar 100k , residence 60k , rubbish 25k a month.

Banjar 500k/year plus the My Dea chicken tickets for 30k/meal which get donated for temples. I also pay the army here 1.5 juta a year for access. Paid 20juta years ago for access from the village so that seems like about enough.

Tel you mean you rented it per a year or you pay per a year to the banjar 100.000 rp? what means residence?
tel522
Our house is rented , we pay to the banjar 100k per year , the residence or perumahan yearly 60k .
Nydave
Still not a clear explication of what you mean by residence, can you be more specific, every house regardless of owning or renting is a residence,
tel522
the balinese call a village a perumahan or residence , clear now ?
Nydave
Yes got it,thank you,we are not all familiar with Balinese ways of saying things,
Markit
I didn't know that either ...
Residence as in "place to reside" prob.

That doesn't sound right.
A perumahan is a housing development where all the houses are similar or the same. Usually, a gated cul-de-sac.
A village is a desa or a kampung.
A house or home is simply a rumah.

Around nusa dua and the bukit there are many "residences" for example nearby me , giri hill residence named by the contactor , ya it may not be strictly correct ,desa is the correct balinese name , but ya that seems to be the fashion nearby.

Ah, that makes sense. It's an attempt to appeal to foreigners/rich Indonesians by using English.

Actually now that I think about it you are correct, here in Surabaya they have names like Graya Residence, the Royal Residence, the more fancy the name the more the cost, absolutely a marketing creation,

Markit the 500.000 rp per a year included the ceremonies? do you get a letter from the head of banjar and another two people with stamps and signs on? do you get any letter explain what for the 500.000 rp is? do you pay apart the ceremonies? I guess all the banjar in Bali has a pura desa and a pura dalam minimun, and usually there is ceremonies one every six months and one every year minimum.

I get a begging letter for the dosh and when I pay I get a hand written receipt. I'm happy there's so little bureaucracy and am glad to pay. The MyDea chicken meal tickets are for the local Pura ceremony. These have their own joy - last year my guy gave them to some of the very poorest in the village WHO HAD NEVER HAD A RESTO MEAL IN THEIR LIVES!. The pictures he took are gold!

The staff working on places on the banjar has to pay as well 15.000 rp each month to the banjar, uhhh and it seems like local people think this is normal but I am not sure this is happening in another places.
