I'm sorry but an operating system should be very manly and hairy chested like "Vista" or "Linux" (sounds like a fecking lion's name, don't it?). Not some pussy name like "Nutella" that looks like poop and tastes that way too.

Post #23 Right with you on that one. Lollipop, Marshmallow. Hopping thru the alphabet giving sweet names. How sickeningly twee, stupid and un-manly, but those guys are so rich/successful that I have to give a little there. I think TITS 2.0 could be OK, as well as ASS Pro (although possibly some connotations there) and, of course, BEAVER.

Here's the other ones: Each major release version is named after something sweet. Android 1.6. Donut. Android 2.1. Eclair. Android 2.2. Froyo. Android 2.3. Gingerbread. Android 3.0. Honeycomb. Android 4.0. Ice Cream Sandwich. Android 4.1. Jelly Bean. Android 4.4. KitKat.

RonB Sorry to ask but I have been trying (and trying) to find out how to copy files, movies, YouTube file, etc onto my tablet from my PC and from the 'Net, but the techniques I cannot make work. Either I don't have the relevant app or the instructions aren't accurate. Or I am just missing the point. Are you able to point me in the right direction? Do you know all this stuff? Thanks.

Slightly digressing but still concerning Samsung. Many airlines are now banning use of the Samsung Note 7 smartphone. Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin, Eva Air...and the FAA have put out a warning...maybe best to hide the phone when boarding.

Good heads-up, DVT. Hope not to get some airhead who sees SAMSUNG and then wants (to take) it. Also, if you put it through in the luggage and they might just take it without you knowing. Then they trot out the travel insurance spiel later on at your desto. Sheesh!

Do you (1) already have the files on your PC, or (2) are you asking how to download them to there in the first place, or (3) moving them between PC and tablet? In reverse order: (3) There is a piece of PC Samsung software you can download and install which enables you to view files on your tablet after it's plugged-in via a USB port. It'll show up as a new device on your PC (just like any other drive). Often, however, the device will be there but the files aren't visible. I forget where the settings are on a Samsung tablet (probably "Settings"). Usually something like "Developer Options". Then go to USB Connections and two main options appear. "Charge device when USB connected" and "MTP". MTP needs to be enabled for the software to actually show all the files from the tablet on the PC. (Might have to reboot the tablet.) Remember to set it back to charging on USB after you're finished. (2) There are many ways to grab YouTube files (and many others). One I use, (not saying it's the best, but works well), is online from your web browser. Free Online YouTube Downloader: Download YouTube Videos, Facebook and many others! No need to install anything. Just copy and paste the URL of the video into SaveFromNet, pick a resolution (up to 720p max) and click go. If you want to grab HD files from YouTube using this, you'll have to install the optional plugin. Two main ways to download full-quality movies: from sites you pay to do so, or free ("illegally", unless they're in the public domain), from Torrent sites. (1) See (3) above.

Post #31 Thanks for this information. I had already downloaded some particular SAMSUNG App for file copying and it's on the tablet [I]somewhere[/I]. (1) already have (2) no, I am OK with all that (3) yes, copy to tablet from PC (getting direct from 'Net can wait a bit longer) What I just did was: PC was ON I connected tablet to PC with USB power cable Switched on tablet Got a message an MTP session would be created - I clicked OK Used Windows File Explorer and saw the usual ANDROID line-up of DCIM, etc, on the tablet Went to a folder on PC of already downloaded YouTube clips Right-clicked one and used Send To to send it to the Galaxy tab S2 OKed a conversion for the copy to use - it tells you which folder the copy will put the results into - in this case Videos It worked! I can use MyFiles to view these things on the tablet The copy with translate is not fast but it's only once per file - a full movie must take all day to copy and translate - only 75MB takes 20+ minutes I got an extra 32GB of storage but it's not installed yet because I have already lost that little pin-like tool that comes with the original packaging Thanks for your info - it got my A into G to get this done

Johnny's advice is on target, and it seems you are succeeding. I copy mainly music and e-books to my tablet - not movies since big TVs are better. So what i use is: * e-books, I use Calibre to maintain a large collection of e-books on my PC and you can set it up to synchronize a selection of books from your PC to the tablet. This can happen using the cable or via wireless connection and after setting things up you just need to select those you want sent, and de-select those you no longer require on the tablet, and at the next synchronize it will happen. * music - I take a similar approach using the MediaMonkey software. It is a bit like iTunes, maintains a collection that can be huge, and keeps track of a selection that you want synchonized With both music and e-books you can configure it so that they are stored on the external memory card.
