Hi everyone,I'm new so be gentle. Was wondering if anyone has used Jetta to move thing from Melbourne to Bali, they sound great this end but wondered how easy it will be to collect everything that end- I will be bringing a lot of stuff, kitchen appliances ,paintings, clothes, treasures etcThank you for any help with this:icon_wink:

There are few mentions of Jetta in the archives. This for example:Tory, no, your stuff is stored for no more than a day, it arrives AFTER you approx 2-3 days, so the storage cost is not an issue. You get an email from Jetta to say what flight your goods are on, and when it is expected into denpasar, they give you a contact number at customs to call and they then check that your stuff is actually landed. Then you go down and basically pick it up, but be prepared for the whole process to take at least 5-6 hours. You need to be prepared to pay a bribe of approx 1 million depending on what you are bringing in. I was bringing in household stuff to start with, kitchen stuff, cutlery etc etc, they went over all of this to make sure it was not NEW, otherwise a fee was payable. My basic problem was that I used 4 ply toilet tissue as packing buffers......they thought I was bringing it into sell, so a few rolls as a gift were gratefully received. lol
Thank you, doesn't sound to bad at that end, I will pack things in bubble wrap not toilet paper- maybe put a few rolls of toilet paper at the top of each box for bribes????:lemo:

For sure, treasures and may be paintings. But kitchen appliances - you may do better to flog them off before you leave, and buy new ones here because they have lower wattage and the appropriate plugs - but sparingly - do you really need them? And clothes - you probably don't need much more than can fit in your checked baggage when you come. Stacks of cold climate clothes will just go mouldy. Give them away.

Thank you, yes I'm culling like a made woman.Don't worry will not bring winter clothes but will bring a lot of summer as I like to have variety and shoes, shoes and did I mention I like shoes!!!!!I was just going to bring my Kitchen Aid appliances and ice- cream maker etc, plus good knives as I dont know what quality I can buy in Bali???? I like to cook. I know I will need adapter plugs but you mentioned different wattage??? I'm moving form Melbourne thought they were the same? Can you but good quality saucepan etc, I will look when I come over to find a villa to rent but the more information I have the better. Thank you again for your time:icon_wink:

Your leather shoes will rot here after the first 6 weeks. Good opportunity to buy new often.

I found exactly that with my shoe collection, after 3 weeks on a container ship they had all gone mouldy. What was amusing was the local elderly ladies were more than happy to swap some in exchange for rubber boots and wash the clothing to get the musky smell out.
All the electrical kitchen equipment from Australia will work on Bali's power supply...it just may not work as well. Australia nominally uses the 240VAC 50 HZ system and usually sustains that voltage unless somewhere out in the Bundu. Bali is supposed to be 230VAC 50HZ but, due to inefficiencies and lack of maintenance, the voltage quite often is lower. I just checked mine in South Bali and it was 228VAC.This simply means it takes longer to heat anything; or a mixer may not be so powerful. Frankly, I don't think you'll notice anything unless there is a complete black-out, rare these days, then nothing will work....time to go to a mall!!!As others have said...most 'Chinese made' electrical appliances here in Indonesia are 'cheap'...but that is meant in both meanings of the term.
