Indonesia, UK sign MoU on Green Economy

Antara News is reporting that Indonesia’s Minister of National Development Planning (PPN), Suharso Monoarfa, and British Minister of State for Development, Anneliese Dodds, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on sustainable development and the green economy in Jakarta on Tuesday (17/9/24.)

“The main focus here is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” Monoarfa said. “We are aware that the SDGs encompass a wide range of issues, including carbon emissions, gender equality, infrastructure, and others,” adding that his ministry and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office have been cooperating on various matters, including financing and funding for development projects.

“I am very pleased with the signing of another MoU that will be in effect for the next five years. Hopefully, this cooperation will encourage business actors from the United Kingdom and Indonesia to collaborate on certain aspects and sectors,” Monoarfa said.

Meanwhile, British Minister Dodds said that the cooperation is a joint effort by the two governments to achieve the net-zero emissions target. Antara News reports that she highlighted the numerous opportunities for joint collaboration in promoting human development and achieving net-zero emissions.

Despite the geographical distance, Indonesia and the UK have found common ground through shared values and a vision for mutual progress.

The two governments have also explored opportunities to collaborate in supporting Indonesia’s National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN) and National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), says Antara News.
